    Here’s are some kits: http://i.imgur.com/ZnfjCxc.png

Wow that Exothermic Induction Field Module is calling my name… in time I shall set all my enemies ablaze!!! And those consoles don’t look half bad now. [Flow] or maybe [Grav] with [Prtg] would be pretty nice. Still plasma explosions are still really good, those 30k+ crits are too hard to pass up.

I agree, trait slots will be the thing to get. Those consoles are pretty meh, “chance to” effects that probably only boost base damage aren’t worth it, even on my exotic particle heavy build. If there is the ability to craft weapons with desired mods or new special mods I think that would be the thing to go for.

In any event I have a bunch of dilithium and I have some fleet credit boosts ready to go. The bigger issue may be doff inputs; I’ll start recruiting some common doffs regularly again. Suspending all those small projects at least two weeks in advance of the release of the holding would be prudent.

I got my FPER and less than a month later they announced T6 ships. I was not pleased, but I did what I’ve always done, diligently farmed for the necessary dilithium and ec needed to get a Delta Rising pack. When you get everything for just logging in and doffing, it makes obsolescence less painful.

Delta Rising introduced a series of cash grabs as well as some social engineering paired with substantial reward nerfs (which we now know led to the relatively dead queues). For me, ships aren’t a big deal, it’s all the alt unfriendly changes that have led to me logging in a lot less.

The upgrade and specialization systems sent a big message to non-whales that this was now a one character game. I’ve always focused on my main, but I could jump to my other toons and craft reasonably powerful builds with a moderate amount of effort. Now I’d have to grind millions of dilithium and ec, and months of full time job grinding to fill out specialization trees. I used to switch energy types, now I can’t. Playing around with builds is an expensive thing to do these days. It’s a shame really.

I feel like they’ve gouged the whales at the expense of the semi-hardcore players. All the DR changes did was to lead me to stockpile. And the exchange keeps creeping up and up…

My suggestions: don’t pay attention to DPS, play on normal, rely on doffing for income, and don’t spend real money so you’ll feel better a about the game. Buying a ship is honestly one of the least expensive things in the game.

I can think of many ways to be very overpowered. With no restrictions, the Cell ship and Tuffi are probably always going to win (Lt Uni). The T’varo with a full SRO crew, BO1, EPtW1, and a trusty tractor beam (or potentially a torpedo bomber) would be the winner every time if the trader ships are eliminated. Or of course one could stack up damage immunities and never die with traits.

And that’s the problem with PvP, no way to really account for things, no way to reasonably limit broken mechanics. Now using broken mechanics on NPCs, that’s worth doing. Clicky console spam would be the way to go for sure, kind of like shuttle builds.

I pretty much use reputation and fleet gear exclusively. But there’s great stuff from the Breen missions and a bunch of antiproton weapons through the Borg arc. The Subspace Field device is worth getting and I throw that on every ship I can. And the Salonae space set with the ancient omni with obelisk core is great. It all depends on what you’re building.

Read this whole post as it popped up in my new posts section. I haven’t played Settlers of Catan in nearly 20 years. Though I can’t remember any of the rules I recall having a lot of fun playing it. If you’ve been in Kent for a long time I bet you even know the store I played it in for the first time back then. There was a small gaming shop there years back called Spellbinders. If you ever dig Star Trek Catan back out and need another player let me know!

I’ve only been in Kent for about 5 years, so I can’t say I know the place you mentioned. I’ve just played and got some stuff at Gaming Grounds, kind of a small place, but the owner is super friendly.

I pretty much make my girlfriend and a couple of her family members play on occasion. It pays like regular Catan, so even non-trek fans like it. But I’ve graduated to Star Trek Attack Wing lately. I have the Galaxy, Vorcha, Dderidex vs. Keldon, Jem Battleship, and a Breen Cruiser. It’s fun to play out a battle of the Dominion War.

But yeah, if you are planning on being in Kent some time, pm me and I’d be happy to meet up. Geek out over some tabletop games and such. And I expect fleetmates like Marcase and Damix to cross oceans to do the same lol.

We all had to start from scratch once and embarrasments and mistakes were made by everyone. Learn from your fellow fleeties and do not be intimidated by any perceived lack of DPS. Basically anyone can get to 10K DPS with just a little effort and without breaking the bank, and 10K is more than enough to play on Advanced level. For PVE on Normal you can get by with what drops as rewards in game.
STO can be notoriously unforgiving with its many options and it often makes the game unnecessarily complicated. There is a huge amount of knowledge available in the 44th to help you avoid common mistakes and it will make the game more fun – which is afterall the “end game” goal here.
Browse this forum and/or post your questions and builds, and constructive advice will warp you way.

    Quoted for truth.

DPS is just a tool, not an absolute requirement. Man the first build I posted was a mess of misconceptions. Blackout and Marcase both taught me a lot. Knowledge is the greatest resource a fleet can provide.

I like the change with the fleet requirements, we do have tons of provisions to spare. Hopefully we’ll see an August update with a new fleet holding (pretty please). And maybe some streamlining of things, like the promised skill tree revamp.

I question the DPS guide. It states:

Don’t Equip More than 6 Beams – It drains too much power

This is just flat out wrong, and shows that the author doesn’t actually understand how weapons drain works. You will NEVER do less damage using MORE weapons.

That guide is definitely a little dated. The author(s) did update the top with traits, but as you go down it’s stuff straight out of the LoR DPS days. Rom Plasma being top DPS, and the constant pushing of the experimental beam…

That being said, the guide offers a lot of good information overall.

The science version may be the one to get. The setup and trait seem powerful. Am I going to get one? Unlikely, unless they magically fix the lag.

We’re they the same boss? If not, woo, better for that Nemesis accolade. If they’re both the same… meh, more xp I guess.

Three years into playing and I still haven’t encountered Unimatrix 6.

Great job compiling this info. This post is almost certainly more informative than any in-game “what’s new” text would be.

I was never really big on DS9 and I am surprised it is so popular with the fleet.

Don’t make the Prophets cry child, honor the Sisko.

If you have Netflix or another streaming service, it’s totally worth re-watching. The first couple seasons are pretty meh, better than 98% of Voyager, but still meh. Once Worf arrives and especially after they get the Defiant, the show really takes off. It’s the only Trek that successfully pulls off a multi-year story arc.

The show is full of wonderful secondary characters, notably: Garak, Martok, Nog, Grand Nagus Zek, Gul Dukat, Weyoun, Brunt, Eddington and Damar. In fact, it is the villains , including Captain Sisko, who define the show. The down sides include the Bajoran religiosity, the Maquis disappearance, a flat performance by Terry Farrel (Dax) and a rushed ending.

After TNG, DS9 is my second favorite Trek. I believe DS9 is the most critically acclaimed Trek to date. It also features CG space battles toward the end, so you get more of a modern feeling show when you watch it. It’s just so unlike any other Trek, and that’s what makes it great.

Yeah, I don’t think well ever fully know the damage. But if the parent company takes a loss, and has been clearly pushing our devs to cash grab like there’s no tomorrow, then I think it’s reasonable to say that a doubling down on that strategy is in the future.

I too am looking forward to Season 10. I’m hoping the sector space revamp is as good of a QoL improvement as the boff training revamp was.

I’m playing Borderlands 2 at the moment, with limited STO doffing. So I hear you on the boredom.

Pretty shocked that PWO fired 8 STO employees, that’s a big chunk from the STO crew. Afaik STO is still a money-maker and cutting the staff there will have an impact…

Well it could be financial guys, may even be a janitor. We know that Smirk is gone and so is the guy who made the revamped Fed tutorial. Beyond that, we’re just waiting and guessing.

I only put this news up because it’s a big indicator of what’s going on behind the scenes. It explains all the over the top cash grabs DR forward. And I have to agree with Blackout, it’s not good news for people who want to invest money into the game.

After this I think they’ll double down. More treadmill, more grind. Iconian and Borg promo ships even…

Looks pretty good overall. I mean Reciprocity, AHOD and Supremacy… pretty much the best traits right there. I use Pedal to the Metal and Emitter Synergy for my Dauntless, but that’s a specific build.

I’ve been thinking about buying the Akista for Supremacy, not sure though. I can’t seem to pull the trigger. Maybe you guys can talk me into it.

Without knowing your build, it would be hard to make any real suggestions. If you’re not A2Bing, I’d suggest either of the Nukara aux buffs. The damage one is for all damage, the defense one adds hull and shield hp and damage resist. The CC rep passive Nanite Emitter thingy is pretty nice.

Sorry names of things are escaping me at the moment. I’m writing from my phone at work. As for ground, bah…
