Congratulations to both of our new Admirals. I can’t think of two better people to help manage the fleet.

(Can I be the chief medical officer? Lol.)

New faction ships (concept art subject to change):

I’m at a point where I don’t have a lot of confidence in the choices of the powers that be. It’s going to come down to how they implement the changes. I predict that it will take level 20 crafting skill to do upgrade projects.

All the new ships they’re working on are T6 versions of ships along with a handful of delta quadrant species ships. They have said tier 5 ships will still be competitive but tier 6 ships will be better- not sure how that works lol. What’s more concerning to me is that my flotilla of lockbox and lobi ships may not get any upgrades at all. It’s too soon to tell.

My plan as of now is to run crafting projects again (joy) and save up dilithium. By the time October comes I should have 2.5 million dilithium, which should be enough to buy whatever expansion pack (like the LoR Legacy pack) they’ll make. Or if all upgrades are through crafting I’ll have the dilithium to rush progress.

A lot of the talk on the main forums is the standard “DOOM!!! The game is finished!”. But I have also noticed several fair-minded vets saying the execution of Expansion 2 is going to be make or break for them. I don’t think I’m there yet, but making me re-buy everything across 7 toons would do it.

Edit: All that being said, I am excited to have ten more levels and hopefully some missions to go with it.

Edit 2: Geko repeatedly said that tier 5 ships won’t be obsolete. Also ship upgrades will not be tied to the crafting system.

Generally this site is dedicated to the 44th Fleet as a whole. So anything posted in the forums is kind of for both. Once you get your main invite, after being accepted, you can just hop on the fleet chat channel and ask for invites to the Fed or KDF fleets for your alts. Too bad there are no blanket invites to accounts.

Welcome to the fleet. The learning curve in STO is fairly daunting, or at least it was in my experience. If you find you’re having a tough time on a mission just ask for help on the fleet channel. In addition to advice you could even have someone team with you on a mission you may have difficulty with.

Getting to 50 goes quickly, what to do after is when the game really begins.

Great guide, I’d like add my two ec as well.

I rely purely on doffing to generate dilithium. So the biggest tip I give people is to make kdf alts. I have my kdf toons run a route from Ganalda to Tau Dewa. I usually get about 40 contraband total and several forced labor missions per run. Takes all of a couple minutes.

Next is semi off topic since its about ec, not dilithium.

Beyond doffing I spend most of my time in Ker’rat. It’s like a never ending foundry farm mission with no loot cap. As long as you’re okay with potentially PvPing you can generate tons of ec. All drops are XI or XII.

Even if I get nothing good a full inventory nets 1 million ec for 5 minutes of time. But a lot goes up for sale. I usually get at least two XII blue damage consoles and some weapons per run. It’s not uncommon to get a blue XII AP Mag, for example.

In addition there are “dailies”. Fed side has a 1440 dil 50 fm reward that can be earned by going afk. Many kdf dailes can be done there too. We should make a fleet run. Where else besides Hive elite can you face a huge swarm of Borg?

They’re just adding more complexity to be able to monetize things. So kits now have multiple parts to make up the whole. Additional reputation active slots will pretty much be part of the next fleet holding. More resource sinks for what’s essentially a nerf all in the name of choice (though reps on reps on reps certainly had to be dealt with).

I don’t mind this too much, and actually see a silver lining in terms of a crafting revamp. What if you could pick your weapon mods by slotting components like kits do now? Seems pretty good to me.

As far as Undine ships, the Nicor looks really good to me. It screams A2B beamboat and should put out some impressive damage. Though it may be a little squishy for those used to FACR or Excelsiors.

And the best buy in the lobi store and is tonight only, is the Hirogen Armor. Was 200 lobi, now 50, it’ll be patched in a few hours…

Nice to see this, but I wonder what bit of storyline they’ll concoct for Admiral Kim to be doing in STO.

Incoming communique: The Iconians have returned to reconquer their empire. Admiral Kim is heading the task force against the Iconians to prevent them from taking a hub of gateways. Report to [system ‘x’] and assist this task force.

Put this mission in either Zeta Andromadae or Alpha Trianguli so we can aid the Cardassians and create a storyline path to a Cardassian/True Way mini-faction in 2015.

Now for my next VO request: Jeffery Combs, Jefferey Combs, Jefferey Combs!!!!!!!

Oh myyyy. That was funny. I’d love to see a TNG version.

Though for me, the original “Hank and Marie Watch” meme still takes the cake.

Yeah, my mirror Dhelan has no visual change between different skins. The only visual change occurs when the “Energy Conversion Matrix” buff is active. Makes my normally green impulse engine trail a pretty blue.

I wouldn’t switch away from that sleek mirror skin anyway.

I am probably in the minority but I was really hoping to see Garret Wang (Ensign Kim). Not that I really liked the character all that much but young Harry was always ambitious. So to me, having him be an admiral now, leading some task force carrying on the legacy of the great Janeway (she never had a greater cheerleader/sycophant than Harry) is just more plausible.

I mean Tuvok has been known to put his Starfleet career on the back-burner. It took him from ST:6 to Voyager to get a promotion from Ensign to Lieutenant, then was handed Lt. Cmdr. by Janeway after a couple years. The dude doesn’t care, never wanted command, just wanted to teach. Tuvok should have just been at Starfleet Academy for the new tutorial, oh well.

Regardless, I think tuvok was the “best” they could get and there is probably a lot of disappointment in store for some. Again, I’ll take what I can get but I’m not expecting much out of this. As long as they make money and the game stays free, I guess I’m satisfied.

Was quite disappointed with the Michael Dorn voice-overs, but in the end its just fluff anyway. Maybe this will be better but I wasn’t super impressed with the interview. Kind of gave me the vibe – “yea i was on Voyager for 7 years so I’ll never get away from ST and i might as well make some $$ at it. anyways i got these other projects going on and I’m here promoting them as well so… oh BTW voice acting is hard so don’t be disappointed at me too when you find out it sucks.” Kurland here!

Yeah, I think you hit the nail on the head. I’m not expecting a lot here, but I’m happy to get whatever content. I as a “beggar” can’t be a “chooser”.

I don’t even notice the “material files loading” thing anymore. It’s kind of like a bad smell, you get used to it eventually.

And I’d say that Dyson Rep is the best rep system introduced thus far, simply because of sponsorship tokens. All my alts quickly finished the three old reps and are quickly approaching tier 5 Dyson rep.

STO is and will be a never ending grind fest. Like Marcase said, it’s a balance between what’s entertaining and what’s not. I have logged in a lot less over the past couple weeks since I don’t have much to do in game and Skyrim has been ruling my life.

I’ve heard that season 9 may be all bug fixes but that may just be wishful thinking…
