I’ll just leave this here: http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9956413

STO on console, more details to come.

Just as an FYI for new players, STO will always have a free2play model, so you don’t have to spend a single $ or euro to enjoy the new content.

I already converted 15k zen from my dilithium, all freely earned over the past year. 15k seems about right compared to the DR pack, so hopefully there are some power items in there that make the purchase worthwhile. If there’s nothing powerful in there, I’ll likely just buy the temporal ships. And hopefully make a nice profit converting my Zen back into dil in a 400+ market.

I am not a fan of TOS, and hate the aesthetic. But I’m happy it’ll bring players back for a time.

It takes some discipline (as in don’t impulse buy and absolutely do no throw resources at the money pit that is the upgrade system), at least 6 toons and focusing all resources on only one character. But you can have everything in game, totally free, with little effort (yay doffing and admiralty).

Anyway, great work as always admiral. I look forward to another potential free character, and running STFs with what should be garbage scowls in the 25th century.

Played through the mission, it was pretty good overall. I forgot to rate and tip, but I’ll play through again sometime. Minus a few minor errors, like Captain Phoenix saying that he “was inticed to see you” when it should say “excited”, the text was good. Though even on elite difficulty I melted the npcs in space, so I could have taken on that fleet without the mighty 44th’s help lol.

I guess I was expecting a few more nods to the fleet members. Maybe an Admiral Latinumbar, Senseikreiger, or Blackout. I’m really not sure how the foundry works so I’m sure things are limited. The nod to Tyler Durden was good to see. Loved the stroll through the Belfast interior. A few of the target zones are too small, as in easy to overshoot or move out of.

It definitely felt like an episode of Trek, and I like how I was told by Admiral Marcase, however politely, to hit the road as I’m not a member of the 44th. If you’re going to do a series, I highly suggest some Borg bashing. That’s pretty much the bread and butter of the 44th, at least ever since I’ve been a member.

I’ll send a better tip via mail, good work!

Tried to play, but no variant of 44th I searched yielded a result of the mission. Mybe after the patch.

If there’s going to be an easter egg finding event, I still have a bunch of prizes sitting in my bank I would be happy to transfer. Mirror ships, some traits, superior techs, and universal consoles are all just gathering dust lol.

I, and my Farscape themed toon Harvey Scorpius, are so excited!

Well, giveaways drew me into logging back in this week. But the skill revamp really sapped my enthusiasm for playing STO. I derive a lot of my fun playing with builds, and the revamp put a huge stop sign up for me. I’m happy that we’re getting the revamp, and all signs point to the new system being a buff, but I can’t make any investments in gear until I know what said gear will do.

I tend to stay during the non-event periods, but I think the above, coupled with overall game frustration (PvP matches with Marcase which were great, but ultimately too generic with just a couple viable builds) led me to take a break. Running around Skyrim with a lightsaber is fun after all. Seeing those numbers are interesting though. Really shows how dead the fleet, and perhaps the game gets, when there are no events.

I’ll end it there as I don’t wish to derail this thread any further. Thanks to our great command staff for being wonderful stewards of the fleet, couldn’t ask for a better bunch. Once S11.5 hits I’ll be back shredding NPCs, grinding the new thing, and tinkering with builds.

Depending on your personal views on metaphysics, it may or may not be. A strict naturalist would likely say it is killing the dematerialized person, since the rematerialized person is merely a copy. Those who believe in the supernatural might suggest the soul or energy of a person is transferred to the copy and is therefore the same person.

Regardless, transporters are an incredibly unlikely price of technology to ever come to fruition – based on our understanding of physics. Great for a show though.

8 characters here; 3 Fed, 5 KDF. Before Delta Rising, I had distinct ships and flavors of builds for each of my characters. I had an alien running a sci spammy Recluse, a Klingon who commandeered an Adapted Destroyer, a Romulan dedicated to PvP, and more. But Delta Rising punished all that, and while things have gotten better, I’m still in the habit of focusing only on my main.

All of my characters farm. I log in with each, either on Ganalda or in sector space parked outside the Trimble System (this is my route for doffing as it hits 2 zones for doffing). I doff, turn in contraband, funnel R&D mats and Contraband to my main, transfer dil, rinse and repeat on my other characters. On my Feds I do Admiralty in addition to doffing since I have enough sci ships to actually do most of the stuff on there. Then my main takes in all the profits.

This is how I got everything I have in game. Multiple Lobi/Lockbox ships, Delta Rising pack, C-store ships, fleet ships galore, fleet items, hundreds of millions of ec and millions of refined dilithium. I do it all in less than an hour a day, so I don’t really call it grinding.

If I do anything else in the game it’s just for fun.

[EDIT:] After some testing it looks like I may have jumped the gun on my assessment of the stats I saw on Tribble. Some further testing resulted in my Tribble build outperforming my Holodeck build by 8.75% more DPS. This is only with a couple data points using Japori as a baseline. Looking at my damage sources, it’s clear that my weapon damage has received a big buff, while my sci abilities has seen a pretty noticeable loss. With some more data I should be able to determine how much, and will pass that data along to Bort since he asked for it.

I also facepalmed at the fact that I didn’t pick some of the bonuses you unlock as you go. The UI for this is not as intuitive as it should be, or perhaps they should force a choice when it becomes available. Selecting these has buffed my stats somewhat, but not enough to make a huge difference.

I will edit my previous post, with more data and a details (and some condensed screenshots) about my build soon.

I mean, yeah, I get things will still change. But it’s pretty clear that science is going to suffer a nerf. But what’s worse, is making a generalized skill tree that followed what I had on Holodeck as closely as I could resulted in a massive nerf to nearly everything.

I liked it before I was able to look under the hood.

A post from the tribble feedback forum:

    megrae wrote: »
I want to know why they are making each point of aux power over 100 weaker than each point under 100

    borticuscryptc wrote: »
First of all, the bonus from each point of Aux is uniform, regardless if that point is above or below the 100 mark. What this changed was the end-points of an overall chart.

    Here’s a visual representation:

As to the “why” of the change… the primary reasons are readability, predictability, and simplification of mechanics for the sake of player understanding.

    The old scaling calculation was:

    (((AuxPwr*.5)/75)+.333)

Can you make sense of that at a glance? What it resulted in a bonus that scaled as such:
    0 pwr = .333333
    25 pwr = .5
    50 pwr = .666667
    75 pwr = .833333
    100 pwr = 1
    125 pwr = 1.16667

Or, stated another way, the base modifier from Aux was 0.333333 and every 1 Point of AuxPwr granted a multiplier of 0.006667… or translated yet more:

Each point of AuxPwr gave 2/3 of 1% bonus above baseline effectiveness.

I dunno about you, but attempting calculations that include “2/3” in my head isn’t easy.

Under the newly updated calculation, it could instead be described as:

Each point of AuxPwr gives a 1/2 of 1% bonus above baseline effectiveness.

0.5, or “half” — that’s really easy to use in napkin math.

Additionally, while the latter is a weaker bonus per point, that “baseline effectiveness” was also boosted by ~50% of its previous value (0.5, up from 0.33333).

In summary… this change wasn’t orchestrated as a means of “nerfing Science,” but rather as a way to move more of the game’s underlying mechanics into an easier-to-understand format. That fact that it simultaneously raises the baseline effectiveness of low-Aux builds is an accepted side effect, rather than being a goal that we set out to meet.

TL;DR: High end science builds get a nice nerf, while nothing else gets nerfed. With the upcoming change, you will be punished for running more aux power. But at least you’ll never be punished for overcapping beams and using FAW… [sigh].
