Nice — am I remembering correctly that that was used as the theme song for Luther?
It does show up in the “Chat Settings” list, and there’s a “Leave” button available, but it doesn’t work. Nor does the /channel_leave command.
The list it doesn’t appear in is the tab settings.
Particularly weird is that I’ve NEVER played champions online. I tried “/channel_join trade” as a guess at what STO’s trade channel might be, and now I’m stuck there!
The projects fill up so quickly I’ve only been able to contribute once! I’m not worried about building up the fleet credits, I have more than I need, but I feel kind of lame that I’m not helping to get it built.
This is my first time being present for a holding that’s being built from scratch — do the projects get more difficult to fill up as we go?
Credits are attached to your character, not to the fleet — they’re just another currency. So when your character moves from one fleet to another, the credits follow along. In other words, you have nothing to worry about on that score!
Trait slots for sure. And the R&D project slot.
Haven’t seen any information on the research lab R&D projects.
I’ve started recruiting some common doffs as well, and I have a decent number of green and blue doffs I can trade for common.
I would assume the value of dilithium is going to skyrocket.
The original Star Trek had been off the air for only a few years when I started catching it in reruns, That, the original BSG, the ~1980 Buck Rogers, the Twilight Zone, the Outer Limits, and the fourth Doctor were my introductions to television SF. (Of course, Star Wars was in the mix as well.)
Since then, there have been too many to reliably recollect. B5 was a favorite (and for the time, the FX were pretty darn good, though the art style was very different from TNG). Farscape was very much a favorite, I never got hugely into Stargate; watched a lot of it, but mainly just to pass time, not because I was super into it. I had hoped for more from SGU; John Scalzi was creative consultant, and officiated at my wedding, so I was really hoping for the best for his sake. But it really felt like SyFy (ugh, that name) was trying to pull in Stargate fans with the name and BSG Redo fans with the atmosphere, and it didn’t come off well.
I’ve heard excellent things about Orphan Black, and want to give that a try.
Nothing yet — my caregiving responsibilities at home have really ballooned of late. Most of my game time has been spent on menial tasks like building resources and spending them on upgrades. If anyone has ideas about what and when would work, fire away!
I’m also not sure we actually have a roster of five interested in participating!
I think you need to be pretty heavy into min/maxing to notice the difference in performance between a T6 ship and a T5U ship, especially since the introduction of the new tac/sci/eng skills. My T6 ships feel different, but they don’t really feel stronger. For the most part, I get T6 ships to plunder their traits for use with my favorite T5U’s.
I think a typical Tier 1 ship layout is two weapons front, one aft, two device slots, one each tac/sci/eng boff slots, and one of each console. They’re generic ships, not really geared toward any particular career. There are T1 ships available for zen (the Oberth is one) that may add one additional console slot and perhaps a special console, and may add the typical cruiser/escort/sci abilities. E.g., the Oberth has sensor analysis, the Constitution probably has some cruiser commands, etc.
And of course if we find the normal modes too easy, we can always try advanced 🙂
I remember reading the PvP discussion — PvP’s not my thing, but it sounded pretty cool for those who enjoy competitive play.
Is this the sort of thing we should try to schedule, or just try to throw together when there are people online?

I hope to join more fleet runs in the future — everyone really is very friendly and forgiving when things go wrong! Been dealing with some stuff at home, in the form of caregiver stress; family member is going through a very difficult meds change, and it’s taking a toll. I tend to avoid social stuff at such times. Fingers crossed that it’ll improve soon and I’ll be able to get more involved.
20% ship discount active, but doesn’t look like any discount for pilot ships. I’ll take the opportunity to pick up AHOD.
This is totally fine with me. Apart from VERY occasional store purchases (like…four or five items total between five alts), they have no need to be in the main fleet, and I know I can alwqys switch them back and forth to do that whenever the time comes. I’ll likely be creating a fed Romulan this time around. Probably Sci again. Just always seem to be drawn to the caster classes, whether they’re effective or not!
Feel free to kick my alt “Mey@eighrichte” — I use her, but she bought a ship, doesn’t need anything else, so we can move her back into the other fleet.
