That looks like so much fun. Until that nasty Nimbus wind sandblasts up your skirts 😛 . I’ve been meaning to dig one of these out for my TOS engineer because I’m a sucker for an old classic. I just need to figure out if I can emulate a Lockhart clan tartan.
Why one vote? I think there was some serious overkill on the number of suggestions an individual could solicit. When your leader (at the time of my post) has 16 votes in a fleet with this many members I think we are doing something wrong. Temporal Spamguard should have been implemented prior to voting. We had a naming convention and have stuck with it through multiple fleets. Not for it at all. At least, “Tactical Special Combat Ops Ninja Protocol Brigade HQ” isn’t polling.

I like Tek’s, “44th Nu”. Consistent with the naming convention we already have established but it also makes allusions to purpose. You can’t do much better than that. A dedicated training fleet might be a good idea and that’s a nailed it name.
Another check in 😀. How is the 23rd treating you 44th? Unfortunately I’m on my shift rotation so it’s a quick check in to push the event for free dilithium, and give my favorite captains a breeze through.
I did initiate Mirror T’Ara and managed to instill a vague resemblance to Prime T’Ara but she still requires some fine tuning and a Mirror TOS wardrobe makeover.
I may play briefly this morning or Friday morning but things likely won’t be ratcheting up until Saturday morning. If no one want or is able to play the intro I’m still up for a hang out at K-13 and TOS adventures. Hopefully the K-13 in Fed neighborhoods looks nicer than the Klingon Honour Guard one. What a dump! There is debris everywhere and I threw out a stack of financial reports with all the pages stuck together 🤮. Filthy Madran!
It’s been about a week since the last update on the thread and the event is drawing closer. I’ve finished gathering my, “captain’s care package” for my recruit. This is a normal practice, although the box ship is an indulgence and not the norm.
Cool! I’m a painter more than a player. I get my kicks figure painting and terrain building mostly. I’m all over the place from historicals and fantasy to a little sci fi but probably not as much as the others. I stick pretty close to to the 28mm because I like painting faces at that scale but have been mucking around with age of sail period ships at 1/700. My next big project is getting something together for Napoleonic French in the Peninsular War.
WoK is a great story with roots in the TOS episode, “Space Seed”. If I had to pick one other from the original films as a standout it has to be “Undiscovered Country”. They managed to build on a political thriller and showcase the Klingons. Good stuff!
I was pleasantly surprised by the weekend run as far as how it didn’t wreck us out of the gate. I went in with a good generalist eng build not perfect for the arena but serviceable. Teamwork was up to 44th standards and we kept up until a round in the mid thirties. By that point the opposition was one shooting us a fair bit and it wasn’t as fun so we finally tapped out. A good haul from sticking it out too. The event Sompek is very brief. I think it’s so short because they didn’t want anyone saying fuck it and AFK. It went by so fast there is no point in not participating. Very easy task. The event will be a cakewalk and my TOS Romulan will have a Thrai Dreadnought Warbird just before the wrap 😄!
Miniatures? You must be a true, “Nerd of the Rings” 😆. JK 😀. I paint and play myself so no actual judgement; Just a shout out. What do you play on tabletop?
Some wires crossed on announcements but the presents seemed to be in line with the effort. Not digging that funny looking ship but there are plenty of nice ones out there for me to catch still. Hopefully Sompek will get me my event prize. I haven’t run the numbers but this might put me over the top. Wondering if anyone is interested in having a fleet “best effort” at Sompek? A couple of us did a dry run over the weekend and the arena wasn’t as soulcrushing as I thought it might be. I’m not sure how the PUGs will play out. I can see randoms curling up and tapping out as soon as the minimum accommodation is met for event credit but at least once I’d be up for trying my best and seeing where that goes. I haven’t done a No Win since there was one 44th Starbase and if I remember right it was pretty primitive at the time 😛 .
You’re welcome Ciao 😀. I’m surprised, “helped me with a build” hasn’t gotten you some cautionary tales 😀. I am not a legendary shipbuilder!!!!! Still, I hope I’m enough of a generalist that what I’d been blabbering about was helpful enough to make getting started a little easier. As you play on you could probably get better advice from more astute captains. I think darkblade’s assistance was probably a step in the right direction. Cheers and I’m happy to hear that you are having fun with it. If there was anything I would want to be able to share or teach approaching the game with a sense of fun would be my top pick. That and good fashion sense; I can’t stand ugly starships and poorly turned out uniforms 😛!
Very cool stuff 😀! I’m still a modeler. It’s what I do even if I’ve been on hiatus for weeks; I blame STO 😛. My niche is typically 28mm figures where I mostly deal in Napoleonics these days and the ships I most enjoy building are 1/700 and have sails. I do like things Trek though so it didn’t take much pressure (none actually) to play around with starships too. I have really tiny ENT ones for gaming and some desktop models of the TOS Connie and D7. How do you lose an airbrush Marcase 😃? Mine compressor is a beast that’s about the same size as my PC. It’s pretty loud too so it can’t sneak off on me. Even when I took long hobby breaks Goblyn used to enjoy getting air massages. Dushka not so much. The compressor makes too scary a racket for her 😛.
