- Why join the Mighty 44th? Several Reasons. Your fleet is clearly organized. I considered a small fleet where I could be a bigger “fish”, but those can be really unstable. I have a strong RP impulse, so it seems to me that a Starfleet Fleet should be at least as stable and organized as Starfleet itself.
Further I think as someone starting out (again) and taking it a bit slow, having the guidance of very experienced players is a huge asset. Also having the divisions between the fleet, it seems that there might be sub-fleets(?) where my abilities are more useful.
Finally, based on the website and the rules and regs, it seems that fleet leadership is committed to a friendly play experience.
- Tell us about yourself: Well, I’m a 51 year old retired/disabled engineer who volunteers in hospice when I can.
I’ve played MMORPGs for aout 20 years. (WOW, LOTRO, Conan Exiles, and others, as well as STO). I believe I first joined STO shortly after launch. I played to max level a couple times and left. I don’t remember why, but work and family were really demanding back then. I returned and played again 2012-13. Again fun, but I think that with the changes and complexity, it was hard for me to get into end game again.
So now I’m back and loving all the many changes from the last 8 years.
As a Trekkie, I’m pretty unusual. I tend to favor the series that most Trekkies aren’t fond of. I think my favorites are Enterprise and Voyager, and my least favorite is DS9. It actually puts me at a disadvantage since Cardasians and Dominion aren’t super familiar to me. (Haven’t seen Picard yet, and only seen the first half season or so of Discovery). Trying to think about why I like things more or less, I like Enterprise because it’s set in a time of no rules, low tech, and I really like the exploration of the Human-Vulcan relationships. I like that Voyager on its own doesn’t have help or repairs right around the corner. On the other hand, the things that bother me sometimes about Voyager and TOS and more often about TNG is the silly, cringy episodes or characters. I can still enjoy a lot of it, but those moments are sometimes….yeesh. As for DS9, there’s something about the pacing that’s hard to get through. I’ve heard it gets better in the 3rd or 4th season, but I can’t invest in 3 seasons of TV I just am not in sync with.
Otherwise, I guess I’m a person with a lot of free time. I like companionship, but also value my solo time. I guess I would think of it in show terms. When out in my ship, I will be working towards the objectives of the Federation, Starfleet, and my fleet, but as in the show, I’d be doing a lot of that on my own, and then joining up with the fleet for events, etc.
I’m open to questions in game, of course.
- Do you accept the rules and regulations? Yes

September 12, 2021 at 3:40 pm #434223Hello Marc!
Thanks for applying to The Mighty 44th. You will receive your in-game invite next time you log in.
Join our 44th chat channel “44th-diplo” by typing the following into the chat window: /channel_join 44th-diplo.
This is used to communicate with our 44th Fleet, 44th Delta Fleet, 44th Gamma Fleet, 44th Epsilon Fleet, and 44th Discord Fleet, as well as our KDF fleets; 44th Assault Squadron and 44th Honour Guard – we don’t use the in-game fleet channel. We are seven fleets acting as one.
As a new 44th Fleet Ensign you will be stationed for 6 weeks in the 44th Discord Fleet, while KDF warriors are assigned to our 44th Honour Guard for 6 weeks. For a promotion to Lieutenant and fleet store unlock you just need to meet 2 requirements:
1) Must have either logged into the game or posted on our 44th forum at least once during the review period of 2 weeks (which starts today);
2) Must be in good standing with the fleet. The fleet rank of Commander is earned after you’ve been with us for 6 weeks. Upon earning this rank, up to two of your characters can be transferred into 44th Fleet and up to three can be put into 44th Assault Squadron, 44th Delta Fleet, or 44th Gamma Fleet at your discretion. Our promotion schedule is hosted publicly at our Trello Board.
Full access to the 44th forum has now been unlocked, feel free to look around. Please bookmark this forum to keep up with Fleet news, and see the most recent Sunday Supplemental Briefing to catch up.
Need some help with STO? Check out our FAQ, starting ship builds, and mechanics guide to help you on your way.
We are on twitter and use Discord for voice (not a requirement, but recommended).
As a mature, no-drama fleet the 44th caters to casual and hard-core players, so I’m sure you’ll fit right in.
Welcome aboard !

September 12, 2021 at 4:26 pm #434228Welcome to the 44th! The only reason we have different fleets is that the game has a limit of 500 members per fleet. We would have preferred to have all our toons in 1 fed and 1 Klingon fleet each if it was possibleš
