Yes, the 2-piece “Well-Rounded” set bonus gives you:
+15 Starship Hull Capacity
+15 Starship Control Expertise
+15 Starship Weapon Specialization <–The +wpn spec is another good damage source. The Intervention Protomatter Deflector also gives another +17.5 Wpn Spec *plus* +17.5 shield pen.
Basically this combo is currently “the meta” for the high DPS crowd. So if you have the resources and really want to squeeze out every drop of damage out of your ship, this 2-piece and the Deflector are the way to go.
"Boldly bashing Borg to bits since 2012..."June 23, 2019 at 8:23 am #423759Currently playing with the following…
… primarily to test out the full Disco Rep set. It’s impressive and well worth a look, even over the excellent ‘meta’ quad that Marcase highlights. It’s a very offensive set, with the 3-piece Mycelial Lightning acting almost as a free experimental weapon…
… which insta-kills most frigate/fighter/boarding party mulch, especially after popping APA3 or a battery energy amplifier. Oh and it’s pretty.
The 4-piece clicky…
… just adds to the output. Both the 3 and 4-piece bonuses reward a healthy max hull.
At present I’ve slotted the Advanced Fleet Twin Phaser Beam Array MkXV [CrtD/Dm][CrtDx4]‘s that I use on all my TOS phaser builds until I get around to upgrading/re-engineering the phaser beams that come with the ship (which look impressive and might well replace the twins permanently). I really like (and highly-recommend) these K-13 twins, though. They kick blue butt. With the Quantum beam/console, this ship is currently performing really well.
The Elite Tactical Flyer Squadrons are simply insane, even if this ship isn’t fitted out with carrier-specific goodness.
Edit: It’s worth noting that the Mycelial Lightning 3-piece bonus hits each target immediately upon acquisition, and is not reliant upon any cooldown (global, tick or otherwise) or recharge; it hits everything that’s targeted as an opener. It’s also free from any power requirement or setting. With BFaW, it spits out d’eath aplenty and (from what I’ve seen of it so far, after playing with a few experimentals such as the railgun etc) – and on this build/skillsets/traits – it has better DPS than the experimentals themselves. Try slotting Distributed Targeting and watch your foes crackle and pop. I really can see a nerfbat coming soon for this thang.
Here’s a recent SBDefence parse…
… with a breakdown showing the ‘Experimental Hyperexcited Ion Stream Projector’ that isn’t slotted and can only refer to the Mycelial Lightning. Nuts. Cashews, no less.

June 23, 2019 at 12:42 pm #423761Sweet, thanks for that write up.
And you’re right – the Discovery set is rising in the ranks for the DPS Top Guns. It’s still fairly new so the number crunchers are still at it, but it’s looking good I’m told. Excellent Crit Chance and Severity there Nubia, congrats on another +100K DPS build ! 😀
"Boldly bashing Borg to bits since 2012..."June 23, 2019 at 1:22 pm #423762Another awesome build! Congrats on the new ship.
Thank you for sharing.
June 23, 2019 at 1:30 pm #423763Thanks Marcase and G’Luv! I’m curious about the discorepset scuttlebutt, so please pass on anything you hear or think.
At the moment, I can’t see a mahoosive downside to the Disco Rep gear. I guess it’s a case of whether the full set is necessary and which (single) piece can be dropped for something better, such as the Prevailing Innervated Shield (for example) with it’s very scrummy +Crit chance/severity. The ‘Power of Math’ clicky is limited by recharge and might not be enough to warrant slotting the full 4-piece. Interesting, though.
I do intend to swap out the ‘meta’ set on the Temporal Light Cruiser and Atlas builds with the Disco set as they seem to be prime candidates for the ‘free’ Mycelial Lightning experimental! After that, I’ll shift to my AP build Kelvin Dread on this character and have a play. Luckily, all 10 of my active captains have completed Tier 5 Disco rep, so I’ll soon be able to see how the set performs on KDF/Rom Disruptor/Plasma builds. More upgrade dil required!
As for the Discovery Enterprise herself… yes, nice ship, nice layout and nice options.

June 23, 2019 at 1:51 pm #423764Anukis, what are you running for boff skills? A2B? And what are your power settings?
I’ve been real excited for this set and I’m extremely pleased to hear it performs well! At the end of the battle, given the possible boost to your hull due to the 4 piece buff, what did your hull end up at? That’s something I’m very curious to see.
Finishing my T5 rep today, so can’t wait to play with it all. Though don’t have enough to upgrade everything sadly. 🙁

June 23, 2019 at 2:47 pm #423766It’s a Drake build… but as Marcase hinted, A2B may well be better. I’ve yet to compare.
BOff skills (2x Romulan Tac, 1x Jem’Hadar Eng, 1x Hierarchy Sci, 1x Holo Eng)…
Power settings (Weapon 50/125, Shield 60/125, Engines 45/82, Auxiliary 45/79)…
Traybind Rotation (Toggleable onable/offable! And with the Entwined Tactical Matrices trait)…
Maxhull is 124,794 stationary, building through 125,055 at start of rotation to between 162,000ish and 172,562 in combat.
None of this is final. It’s all a work in progress 🙂

June 23, 2019 at 4:28 pm #423769Thank you for the info! Those power numbers are amazing!

June 24, 2019 at 11:08 am #423784So I realized using Entwined Tactical Matrices actually benefits the current bug with the Advanced Phaser Beam Arrays right now, since FAW I counts as FAW III for them. I’m also curious, if you remove the DBBs for regular Arrays if you’ll keep the RCS counsole since you won’t have to line up your ship as much anymore? Using the Pilot Spec, I know I’ll be replacing it with an Agony console for extra phaser damage and crit hit chance. Still, using what you have above with a minor tweak in swapping out the Engineering Team for Narrow Sensor Bands I, and not being able to upgrade the ship items sadly, got 109K dps on it. So definitely a fun build!
With all the pet traits and doffs I’m using, those things do the brunt of the damage for sure though. 😉

June 24, 2019 at 12:19 pm #423787RE power levels, I believe that is with both emergency power to weapons and emergency power to shields active. You wouldn’t be able to achieve that with no buffs running. Still impressive!
June 24, 2019 at 12:35 pm #423788I guess ‘lining up your ship’ is situational but the K-13 Twins have a 250-degree arc, so are identical to regular beams anyhoo… one of the reasons I am such a fan of them!
The RCS console is a ResAll variant. I like having decent resistances if I intend to pop threat/attract fire, so prefer to run with it tbh… whenever the squadron tops the hate list, they tend to go fizzpop (absolutely NO carrier traits/doffs etc slotted). That said, and with a nod to your ET/NSB point… on Adv TFO’s (the most common runs) I rarely get scratched so I’m sure I can reduce the res’s, and swap out the RSP (which I haven’t had to use at all) if and when. Being a miracle variant though, it helps to have ST and ET available (TT is on bind) to trigger the special doodads quicker… I know they’re not spectacular but I like to have SOMEthing to do! 🙂
109k? Nice one! I hit one flukey run last night with 124k, which is the highest I’ve ever had on a non-sci build. Once you upgrade and polish your bits to a deep shine, I’m certain you’ll leapfrog over me again. If ever you fancy posting your build, let me know as I’d love to see it.
Yep. The max’s are with drake running. The mins are stationary, parked and whistling dixie.

June 24, 2019 at 1:02 pm #423790Ah, that explains the high resists you have then! I plan on doing a few more tests tonight to see if I can increase things a bit, but having the extra tankiness might be nice since there were certainly a couple times I had to pop a few things to keep alive in ISA.I actually also switched out ST for HE and added that to the attack bar mainly for the res buff it gives. My shields were certainly hurting though, so may go back to ST for a bit of shield heal.
Didn’t realize those DBBs were 250 arcs! That makes a lot of sense why to use them! The Advance Phasers are really nice, however, so will probably stick with those.
With the pet traits and doffs (recharge time variant) slotted the pets do the workhorse of the damage for me. Gets their cooldown to 8 sec, and with Scramble Fighters equipped that really helps both with their damage and their staying alive. Of course, Superior Area Denial also helps. 😉 With Wing Commander they level up so fast they tend to live longer as well.
Once I do a bit more tweaking tonight I’ll see about throwing the build up. 🙂

June 25, 2019 at 11:21 am #423824On tribble: “Resolved an issue that caused Advanced Phaser Beam Arrays to apply Fire at Will 3 under Fire at Will 1 and Fire at Will 1 under Fire at Will 3.”
Naebliss sold me his Disconnie today so I’m excited to try it out later this week. I think I’ll go with the Aux2batt build, haven’t used it for years.
Twin phasers are not DBB, they are just BA with different visuals/FX.
June 25, 2019 at 2:04 pm #423827Glad they’re fixing it, but sadly that will lower my dps with this build. Lol. Oh well. 🙂
Ah, good point. Sorry for that confusion.
did some more testing of my version of the build last night and in one run hit 130k. I think that was just a perfect storm though of buffs/debuffs from other players. Seems to be coming in around 110-115k mostly with a good run. I’ll post it sometime in the next couple days.
So far, this is now my main ship hands down.

June 26, 2019 at 11:33 am #423836Now with working pictures! Thanks to Damix!
Ok, so got the stuff together for my build to share! I’m sure there’s areas to improve, and my power is no where near as good as Nubia’s, but it works quite well. So here we are with the U.S.S. Midnight Dreary!
Obviously there’s some upgrading that needs to be done. I used my last Ultimate Upgrades to do the TTF Phaser Array and Advanced Phaser Beams as well as the Warp Core and Impulse Engines. Already had the TTF Torpedo upgraded as well as the few upgraded consoles from my other ship builds. Crit chance will certainly go up with upgraded Vulnerability consoles.
Boffs are 2 Romulan Tac, 1 Sci JHV, 1 Eng JHV, and 1 Eng Kentari
The 3 Flight Deck Officers, with the skills on the ship itself, make my pets have an 8 second recharge. This is key given the traits I’m using for pet buffing (Scramble Fighters).
Personal Space Traits:Superior Beam TrainingTerran Targeting SystemsStarship Traits:Space Reputation Traits: (all Rank 2)My power at rest versus during combat with both Emergency Powers activated. Again, not as good as Nubia’s, but certainly gets the job done. Even the low Engine power doesn’t really become a problem with the dual copies of Attack Pattern Omega. Here’s my spacebar trays (yes, I use two on the same binding file for simplicity). Having the Hangar Deployment buttons are key to getting the most out of Scramble Fighters buffing and protecting your pets. With Wing Commander, these things level FAST, which also helps them stay alive and any that die don’t take long at all to rank back up.And finally here’s the ISA run I did right after taking all these pictures. This seems to be about average for the build. I’ve gotten as high as 130k at times as well. Also, I know this with go down a bit when they fix the problem with FAW I counting as III for the Advanced Phasers right now. But once I upgrade everything it should go up again too!- This reply was modified 5 years, 6 months ago by RatheMagius.
