I’ve only been playing again for three weeks, played way early on when it felt like it took a weekend to become admiral and catch up to everything.

Not an especially deep topic, but trying to drum up some small talk to get a feel for the clan, etc.

I thought about posting requests for tips and what I’m missing, etc, but still making my way through the guides and have more resources there than I have time for.

    So: What’s your favorite part?

I came back because a few weeks ago I was finishing up Picard, catching up on Lower Decks and found myself browsing a bunch of subreddits with ship designs, then started watching space battle compilations and realized I had a deeper itch. The combat can be frustrating at times, but the exploration is great and I feel like they do a decent job of balancing exploration in later campaigns with the space battles.

Back years ago it was fighting the Borg. Everything I did in game was in direction of killing Borg. Now, it is the ships and their designs.

It might not be an opinion a lot of people share, but for me it’s the combination of space and ground zones/battles/adventures.

For me its flying the ships I have seen on TV/Movies and trying to push the DPS continually with some friends

It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose

I’m a lifelong Trekkie so I really enjoy just wandering around in the Star Trek universe. I’m one of those who can spend half an hour geeking out over the Enterprise A & D’s interior. Often I rewatch a TNG episode while hanging around STO’s Galaxy or Intrepid interior.

I’ve been playing since beta, dropped out, came back when it became free2play around 2012 and been around since. Last 2 years I’ve been in and out of the game due to real life demands, so now I just log on for a patrol or two. I don’t have the time anymore for DPS chasing – which I did for a while – so now it’s truly just for entertainment. I like that STO allows for that too. you can get as fanatic or as casual as you like without being “walled” or exempted from playing content.

I had the pleasure and honor running the 44th for a few years and finally gave over the reigns – no more paperwork! – and it’s enormously satisfying to see the 44th carry on strong as ever. Many other fleets/clans came and went in that time. The 44th has been around before STO’s beta release so it’s great to see numerous familiar names returning regularly after work/school/family pulls you away inevitably.

Have to agree with the above, though I can’t really cally myself a proper “trekkie” but SF/F has been a part of my entire life and Trek has been a significant part.

I do really like the universe and setting very much. I’d forgotten how gorgeous the ship designs are, especially considering the age of the engine.
The storytelling is pretty top-notch as well, if fairly typically in some cases using SF tropes, just like the original writers.

I love good storytelling… and few games that I like do it as well.
