I have another question, can Klingon characters enter the sol system/earth space dock? I am unable to, or is there some missions that have to be completed first to have access? I am about half way through.

No, Klingon (Faction) players cannot enter Earth Space Dock (ESD) – they have their own homeworld and Academy on Q’onos, and their own K-7 “forward base” named Ganalda. Plus of course our 44th Assault Squadron has its very own Klingon fleet starbase.
This division in two factions is still a holdover from the original game format when there was a ‘Blue’ and ‘Red’ side. And although the players and even Cryptic themselves want to just settle on One Faction To Rule Them All (easier/cheaper to create single missions instead of having to make seperate “Red Faction” versions of it) it is hard-coded in the software that both Fed and KDF will always be seperate. That’s why Romulans and future Dominion characters always have to pick a side.
