=44th Remembers=
This monthly contest will be different. Instead of the usual contest, I want to do something that means a lot to me and I’m sure a lot to others as well.As some of you may be aware, I served in the United States Navy for 4 years. I served aboard CVN-65 U.S.S. Enterprise. (I know, I know) I did 4 tours in my time there, including some time in OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) and OEF (Operation Enduring Freedom). Due to my job in the Navy, there were times that I had to go ashore and provide supplemental assistance on various electrical equipment. I met many people from many different places due to U.N. involvement. I respected all of them and found them all to be genuine and very honorable.
Enough of the back-story, now to the meat of the post.
Instead of a normal contest, I would like to ask all 44th Fleet members to show a day of remembrance for any and all fallen warriors of all wars.
Now I know the United States just celebrated Memorial Day. I also know that each country we have here has their own day to celebrate this (Dodenherdenking for The Netherlands, Remembrance Day for the Brits and Canadians, ANZAC Day for the Aussies and New Zealanders, Volkstrauertag for the Germans, and the Russians have a lot more than I can list.) However, I want to set aside a special time for our little fleet to show remembrance of these brave heroes. Due to the vast diversity of our fleet I have chosen June 6th to June 14th to remember the sacrifices of these heroes. I shall explain my reasoning below.
As many of you are aware Operation Overlord took place from June 6th to August 30th in 1944. The Allies invaded northern France (more specifically the coast of Normandy) to drive the Nazi Army from France and eventually back into Germany. The reason why I chose this particular day and battle to use as this day is the Armies involved with this mission includes nearly every nation represented in our fleet. Here is a list:
-United States
-United Kingdom
-Canada
-Free French Forces
-Polish Forces
-Australia
-Free Belgian Forces
-Free Czechoslovak Forces
-Free Greek Forces
-Free Luxembourgish Forces
-Free Dutch Forces
-New Zealand
-Free Norwegian ForcesSo, you may be asking what you have to do. It’s very simple. Post a screenshot here showing your Captain giving a moment of their time to remember the sacrifices of those before him/her. For this, you will receive a special Ribbon that I made and that will only be given in this contest. Marcase has also generously volunteered to give x10 random Superior Tech Upgrades as well!
I thank you all in advance for doing this, it means a lot to me and anyone who has served.

June 6, 2017 at 5:25 pm #186451For those who fell in the most devastating battle in Federation history. Their sacrifice gave the time needed to stop the Borg invasion before humanity, and the Federation, was lost. Fly by salute. If I had a matching squadron, I’d have spent an hour or two getting a flight in formation as we pass by the monument.

June 7, 2017 at 8:30 pm #186459The Borg threat, and the battle of Wolf 359, are important to my character as a Joined Trill with lifetimes of memory, a member of Omega Force, and her entire background being built on developing anti-borg weapons and technologies, largely in finding ways to combat, prevent, and reverse assimilation.

June 7, 2017 at 1:38 am #186482For L’af, a mug of bloodwine shared at an empty table is the best way to remember the fallen. She has a tradition of remembering those who came before her, and those who will come after. StoVokor is an honored place, and she knows she will join them again.

"Boldly bashing Borg to bits since 2012..."June 8, 2017 at 1:12 am #186569June 8, 2017 at 1:37 am #186574Thrawn will never forget that day. 2367. Stardate 44002.3. The day the voices were silenced. The day he began to reclaim his humanity. They day he was finally free; but at a terrible cost. 39 starships. 11,000 dead. They would pay for what they had done. What they had taken. He will teach them that resistance is not futile. The time of the Borg will end.
Remember Wolf-359.

Go Army!
