personally, i don’t think 6 months is extreme. i’d say that anyone who hasn’t logged on in 6 months is fair game to be considered afk from the game, at the very least…if not quit the game. especially when you consider (and they know) that 44th is a large and active fleet. Probably one of the largest and most active left in the game these days, if i don’t miss my guess. If fleets didn’t have member limits, I’d totally be down for just leaving everyone in the fleet. However, as it is, we really don’t have the luxury of keeping a massive inactive list in our rosters just in case folks come back at some point. If people do come back, of course they’re welcome. As someone who’s taken several lengthy afk’s from the game myself, i certainly attach no ill-will to any of our inactive members…but we do need to free up space for folks who ARE active and potentially contributing members of the fleet. As we’re growing up to the limits we have, we have to do stuff like this.

I’ve also suggested a number of potential other reforms on discord, which when combined with regular roster maintenance like this, should (I’d think, anyway) substantially ease our membership difficulties.

    • Since Delta Fleet is nearing parity with Main fleet as far as holdings go, we give new cmdrs a choice of either main or Delta as a “destination” fleet.
    • New members go into Gamma Fleet.  With more and more active members in Gamma, I’d expect Gamma’s holdings to begin to rise in completion fairly quickly as well.
    • Since holding improvement projects are beginning to not be a thing any longer in main and Delta fleets, we make a point of directing members’ contributions to Gamma’s holdings, further improving them to the point where we won’t need to worry about members there not having access to fleet stores (and, of course, beyond that when we get that done).
    • If Main and/or Delta run low on various holding provisions, we temporarily redirect resources away from gamma and into them to build our stocks back up. otherwise, it’s all Gamma
    • In the meantime, if Gamma members above the rank of Lt need stuff from fleet stores, we can temporarily invite them to main or Delta…making sure to get them back into Gamma when they’re done shopping, so long as they’re not yet cmdrs (I remember Marcase doing this for me way back when I was a nub who just got Lt in Delta…inviting me to main temporarily for a shopping spree because Delta didn’t have the stuff I needed unlocked).
    • Since new members are the most likely players to be trying the game on to see if they like it, we introduce a rule that only applies to Ensigns and Lt’s, stating unequivocally that if they don’t log in for (length of time to be determined. maybe 3 weeks?), they will most likely be pruned with no ill-will and the option to be reinvited if/when they return to the game…unless they post to the shore leave forum.
    • We make Gamma our “Fleet where alts are” for the time being…if that swamps Gamma fleet with too many members, we can also make another fleet…I’m still not really sure if our fleet charter or invitation agreement addresses what happens if/when we need more space, but we do still have a good number of fairly low-membership fleets in the armada.  U.F.P. Peacekeepers is at 32 members, Taskforce Echo is at 38, Terran Mafia at 40, Kleine geschlechtslose Pelztiere is at 55, Taskforce Unlimited is at 62, Ferengi Trade Council is at 79…U.F.P. Peacekeepers always blocks armada donations of Fleet Marks and Expertise, too.  we could absorb them as full 44th members, or let them go *shrug*

just to be clear, it’s “Leitsu Honam@leitsu#7084”?  or is it “LeitsuHonam@leitsu#7084”?  or some other variation?  also, check your friends list (“o”key or button with 3 little dudes to the right of your minimap, then “Friends” tab).  i sent you a friend invite.  If you accept, i’ll just be able to right click and use the menu there to invite.  both akula and i have tried the names mentioned earlier and have gotten a “player not found…” error message, which would indicate that something is misspelled or we don’t yet have the correct name, or the number is wrong, or something.

yeah, once you hit mastery level 5 with a t6 ship, you unlock that ship’s trait to be used on anything you fly.  just make sure you go and add it to your character :).  you need to do this for it to work on any ship, even on the ship you unlocked it with.  this is one of the reasons to get more and varied ships.  some have really nice traits :)…the arbiter, for example. also, the vaadwaur astika heavy battlecruiser (buy on the exchange or for 900 lobi) has a trait called “supremacy” which raises all your power levels a bit for a time for every distinct target you hit while BFAW is running.  Redirecting Arrays from the tac variant of the miracle worker cruiser will extend bfaw by some time if you get hit by enemy fire while bfaw is running (once per second, receiving damage will increase bfaw’s duration by .33s for a maximum duration of 15 seconds of live bfaw. *shrug* another 5s of bfaw isn’t awful 🙂 ).  Regroup from the 31st century temporal raider reduces recharge time for engineering and tempop abilities when you activate attack patterns.  just…mix and match :D…i use all those i mentioned as well as Honored Dead (after receiving 10,000 cumulative damage, gain a stack of honored dead which adds +10 all damage resist rating and +1% health regeneration (max 20 stacks, infinite duration).  while at 20 stacks, subsequent activations instead grant 10,000 temporary hit points for 40 sec.  while not in combat, lose one stack of honored dead every 2 sec unless cloaked.) it’s a fairly decent survivability trait 🙂

Further notes on drake build, while i’m thinking about it:

You can absolutely start out a drake with rare (blue) DCE’s.  or heck, even greens.  the thing that scales with their quality is the chance to activate.  with greens, it’s a 25% chance for activation. blues have 30%.  and purples have 35%.   your goal should be to get purples eventually, but if you can’t afford them right now, get what you can and make do till you can get better ones.

also, interestingly, cannon abilities (scatter volley and rapid fire) take a higher rank slot than beams:  their tier III skills both need a commander slot, while beams only need a ltcomm slot for the same.

    tbh, what they said

Emergency Weapon Cycle is a good enough trait that if you’re playing a ship that cares about weapon damage (i.e. not a space wizardry ship), it’s more or less considered a must have…especially if you’re using a drake build on your bc (which you absolutely probably should :D)

and the fleet battlecruiser isn’t just a sturdier version of the c-store one (though it is that as well)…you also get an additional console slot.

so, long term, you’ll probably want both if you want to have it as your main piloted ship.  short term, get the c-store one and get the trait.

now, i mentioned a “drake build” earlier.  let me explain.

There are duty officers with a specialization of “Damage Control Engineer” (let’s call them DCE’s for the sake of brevity).  Some of those DCE’s have an ability that gives you a chance that every time you use an Emergency Power to subsystem (EPTx covers all 4.  EPTW=emergency power to weapons, EPTS=emergency power to shields, etc. you get it, i’m sure) ability, you’ll reduce the recharge of EPTx abilities.

    https://i.imgur.com/yatKJWF.jpg

    like that one ^^

with very rare DCE’s, they have a 35% chance to reduce the recharge by 30%.  and all three give an independent 35% chance…so every time, you have a chance for all 3 to activate and give you a big recharge reduction.  you also have a chance for none of them to activate.  such is the nature of rng :D.  but the most likely scenario is for at least one to activate and reduce your recharge.

so if you have EPTW and another EPTx ability (personally, i like epts, but you could also use epte if you wanted).  use one, and then the other when the shared cooldown expires.  using the second one has a good chance at reducing the cooldown on the first.  when the first is off cooldown, use it, again a good chance at reducing the cooldown on the second.  just keep using your abilities when they come off cooldown, and you can maintain very close to 100% uptime for both.  constantly full weapon power means every shot hits harder.  constantly full shield power (in my case) means your shields are beefier and regenerate faster.  constantly full engine power would mean your ship moves and turns faster.

you can drake build just about anything with at least two engineer boff skill slots, but imo the arbiter is perfect for it.  why?

first, it has a commander engineering station.  which means you can put a max rank emergency power to weapons on. it’s a ltcomm ability, so it doesn’t even use the top slot. personally, i put rotate shield polarity in my engi’s comm ability slot.

second, it has a ltcomm universal station. i put another engineer in there, and ltcomm means you can put another max rank emergency power to subsystem ability in there (again, i use epts).  so moar power.

third, it has a ltcomm tac station.  which means i can put in a max ranked beams: fire at will (oh yeah, i use beams on my battlecruiser as well).  that station’s lt ability is attack pattern: beta (which you’ll notice my other doffs in the screenshot above buff the recharge on).  and tac team 1 in the ensign slot, to automatically balance shields when taking damage (and for a small damage buff).

fourth, it has an ensign tac station. which gives me a spot for Kemocite Laced Weaponry 1, for aoe damage around my target.

and fifth, a lt science station, which gives me slots for Hazard Emitters II and Science team I, for shield and hull heals…and hazard and dot clearing, too

So my battlecruiser looks like this:  3 conn officer doffs to buff attack pattern recharge speed, 3 DCE’s for the drake build.

    Comm Engineer
    Engineering team I
Boarding party I  (can absolutely be changed to something else if you’d rather)
    EPTW III
    Rotate Shield Polarity III

    LtComm Universal (Engineer)
Structural Integrity Collapse I (can also be changed to whatever *shrug*)
    Engineering Team II
    EPTS III

    LtComm Tac
    tactical team I
    Attack Pattern: Beta
    BFAW III

    LT sci
    science team I
    Hazard Emitters II

    Ensign tac
    KLW I

Now then, on to the other stuff.

You might want to consider what race of boffs you use.  some races have unique traits. you might consider checking out Krenim boffs at our research lab.    each one you use in a specific specialization (engineering, science, tac) will give you +10% recharge speed for that type of ability (i.e. you have two krenim engineers, means you get +20% recharge speed for all engineering bridge officer abilities).  they’re not cheap (160k fc and 34k refined dil each), but can be very worth.

you can also consider the blue (rare) romulan tac boffs available at the fleet embassy.  they’ve got the superior romulan operative trait, which gives you +2% crit chance, +5% crit severity, and +15% recharge speed for cloaking

there are various others out there as well: nausicans have “pirate” for a straight damage boost (you can also get a heirarchy boff in one of the delta quadrant missions who has it).  lukari and kentari boffs from the fleet colony: kentari (who might need a lvl 5 colony world, i’m not sure offhand :X) give a stacking damage bonus for 15s after destroying a ship (though i’m not for sure how this works…do you actually need to get the killing blow? do you just need to do x% of damage to it before it dies? *shrug*)

I agree with Marcase.  you want a third Damage Control Engineer.

then, personally, i’d put Emergency Power to Weapons (EPtW) III in your commander’s third slot, EPtS II in his second.  then, because of your DCE’s, you can keep both buffs active nearly all the time. just cycle back and forth. this makes this a “Drake” build. (just so you know what we’re talking about when we say that word).

i’ve not compared the two, but you might also consider Reverse Shield Polarity III in his fourth slot.  doesn’t require that he be specialized into command. a VERY nice shield heal/invuln to energy weapons.

now then: since my first post turned into “how to get fc” instead of any specific comments on your ship, this.

(edit: I’m assuming you’re straight KDF, and not Rom or Jem aligned with KDF.  Roms have their own version of the box below. contains either the dynamic power redistributor module, or the disruption pulse emitter. no secondary shield projector available cheaply for them. it’s also…ok, but what you want is the 2 piece set bonus.  just make sure you get the right box. roms (even kdf aligned roms) can’t use the “(klingon)” box)

you say you’re ec rich, so i’ll toss this in the discussion.  search the exchange for “dynamic power”.  this should bring up “Console pack – Dynamic Power Redistributor Module / Secondary Shield Projector (Klingon)”.  As of right now, they cost about 4.5 million ec each.  for the first one, get the Dynamic Power Redistributor Module.  it’s awesome. +19% directed energy damage and +11.3 all damage resist passively. and a FANTASTIC ability. click it, and for 20 sec, you get +100 bonus damage resist, +500% hull regen, and if you’re above 80% hull, you get +40% bonus damage.  2 min cooldown.

if you get the second (for you as KDF, Secondary Shield Projector), in itself, it’s…ok. some extra survivability.  but with both equipped, you get the two piece set bonus, which is +33% phaser, disruptor, and plasma damage for directed energy weapons.

Next, might i suggest you check out the Episode “Scylla and Charybdis” in the “New Frontiers” arc.  from there, you can get the Bajor Defense Set (minus warp core (it came with last year’s anniversary ship)).  the pieces are individually, pretty ok, but with a two piece set bonus, you get another +19% phaser, disruptor, and plasma damage.

Next thing. you want all 3 pieces of the entoiled technology set. Episode “Echoes of Light” in the “New Frontiers” arc.  there’s a beam array, a disruptor energy torpedo, and a science console.  the beam array is ok. it’s a beam array *shrug* there’s a special proc on it, but it’s not anything game-defining. The torpedo fires a disruptor energy torpedo.  so it’s damage is boosted by your (disruptor) tac consoles.  fairly nice.  and finally, the science console. the science console gives you (at very rare mk xv) 31.7% power transfer rate, +37.4 drainx (which should improve your returns from your plasmonic leech), and +23.8% disruptor damage.  now, you want the 3 piece, of course, for the set bonus.  the two piece adds some damage over time to the proc on the beam array.  the three piece, however, is what you really want.  +28.5% disruptor damage AND +50 starship hull penetration.

Really, you know the rest to strive for. Terran Task Force beam array, spire tac consoles.  ultra rare Hangar pets from fleet starbase.

Thing 1:  the colony provisions minigames are hourly per character, not daily. if you have several characters, you can cycle them through and get a bunch of fc very quickly across multiple characters.

Thing 2: when you have a decent ground setup, it’s even faster to earn fc by doing colony defense simulations.  if someone in the fleet gets into a group that needs more, they’ll usually say so in diplo chat.  alternatively, there are custom FedSim and Simulation chat channels inhabited by players across the game.  you can join one or both of them and watch for sims needing more folks.  link for ideal sim setup follows.  i understand that this is a “not right now” thing for you, but look towards getting the things stipulated for your specialization as you can. https://www.sto-league.com/colony-defense-simulation/

Thing 3: you can also earn a good amount of fc by doing tfo’s (random is probably best, since you get an extra package of marks) for fleet marks, then watching the armada for opportunities to contribute fleet marks to projects.

    https://i.imgur.com/EPxDFSa.png

Most projects require some amount of fleet marks to be donated, but they usually fill fairly quickly.  Also, some fleets in the armada don’t accept fleet mark donations from people outside of their fleet, so the donation bar will be greyed out even when the project’s not full of them.  occasionally though, someone will slot a project that needs a whole bunch of fm’s, and if your timing is good, you can capitalize and dump a whole bunch of fm’s into it. (and, of course, get rewarded with a whole bunch of fc’s for your donation(50 fleet credits per fleet mark donated)).

A warning though, some fleet projects actually need donations of fleet credits.  and give you nothing for the donation. so make sure you know what you’re donating when you do so.  don’t just see “fleet” and dump everything into it.

Thing 4: another way of earning fleet credits, though slower but much steadier.  doffing. go to the fleet starbase.  Since you’re KDF, you want to run immediately left from the teleport pad, to the dude with the 3d box over his head. she/he’s a personnel officer.  talk to them, and they’ll give you a “submit request for personnel” option. from there, they give you further options. always do the “tactical officer cadre”, “engineering officer cadre”, “science officer cadre”, and “civil corps recruitment” doff missions on cooldown.  they require nothing but time and doff mission slots, and reward you with a varying number of white doffs on completion (number based on how successful the RNG says your mission was).  then, donate those white (common) doffs to fleet projects (usually starbase that needs them).  you can also do the “general recruitment” mission if you’ve got refined dil to spare: it takes 1000.

Then, go to the turbolifts.  visit each floor (engineering, science, tactical is usually the order i do them in), and find the racial personnel officer on each floor.  again, each of these takes nothing from you but time and a doff mission slot.  there’s an orion in the room across the hall from the turbolifts on engineering. A gorn in the room at the end of the hall to the right of the turbolifts on science. and a nausicaan in the room across the hall from the turbolifts on tactical.

You can also find all 3 racial personnel officers and a general personnel officer at klingon academy…but i prefer to use the fleet starbase’s, as being there means i also have quick access to the starbase transporter which takes me to our other holdings for daily stuffs you can’t get anywhere else.  will say more on that in another post if you’re not familiar with the things on offer. otherwise, this is getting long 😀
