I’ll probably add a Science Officer to my set of characters. I want some Subnucleonic Beam.
PWE took my money too.
Now I have too many ship slots, and not enough ships… I also can’t be bothered to reclaim the other ships that I bought. Perhaps I’ll fill them with Fleet ships.
I need to make a decision on which VA Klingon ship to get. B’rel or KarFi? Kar Fi does so much damage, but the B’rel is canon, and I do so like canon ships.
I also have 2 more character slots. I guess I can farm another 4k Dilithium a day? I guess I’ll make a pair of Klingons then since they start at a higher level, and I think have almost immediate access to Investigate Officer reports.
I have yet to put the Veteran hull material on a ship… I’ll have to see.
I’ve basically been grinding for money and dilthium so that I could buy a lockbox ship. Originally I wanted a Jem Hadar attack ship, but once the temporal ships came out, I decided that I would rather have a Federation starship.
So, I got myself a Wells and Mobius.
Ship power maxes out at 125.
Captain skills don’t have a maximum. Through the skill tree you can get them to 99, but with traits and consoles you can get them as high as you like from what I’ve seen. I bought three SIF generators just to test them, and I’m staring at a 158 Starship Hull Repair Skill.
You know, it is possible to beat the no win scenario – you just need to do something that seems counter-intuitive after doing a million STFs.
The Sad Pandas beat the no-win by basically healing the heck out of the freighter, and putting its resistances through the roof. Dealing damage was secondary.
If folks feel like trying this, I suggest a bunch of engineers and science ships, rather than escorts (unlike an STF, where having 5 escorts with APB and CSV is probably the best way to go).
I thought the colours would make a nice touch 😉
Honestly though, I’ll say 85% of PuGs are perfectly fine, with about 10% being just stereotypically bad (e.g. prematurely destroying the cubes in Cure).
It’s that 5% that become either enraging or confusing. Last week, I was in an ISE PuG with a Tier 2 Nova, and a Tier 2 Saber (They had 15k hull, so not the Fleet versions!). That was just strange. They didn’t die throughout the STF, as they never got aggro (since they put out close to 0 damage)
Well, if we’re sharing PuG horror stories, I’ll share my latest one today.
So I get into Khitomer Accord space elite, and this is the team I get:
1) Me (in my Defiant)
2) A Tac in a defiant with at least 9 injuries, at least 3 of which are critical (I stopped counting at some point, and he never repaired any of them)
3) A rainbow beam B’rel Bird of Prey (yes, you read that right)
4) A hybrid rainbow beam/cannon Patrol escort
5) Some sort of beam BortasquWe manage the first part with the gates and probes just fine with me taking probe duty because most of the other folks were just so weak DPS wise, but Donatra was just brutal. No one had a hold skill, so it just took me about an hour to kill her as she cloaked in and out.
At one point I just cloaked and AFKed for 15 seconds to get a drink, and when I came back, my entire team was dead. Throughout this debacle, my team just kept mounting injuries which they never bothered to repair.
That being said, with all the colours flying everywhere it was like I was watching Care Bears explode.
In retrospect, it might have been better to take the leaver penalty right at the beginning.
On my KDF, I’m working towards the mk xi KHG Ground set. I’m not the biggest fan of ground combat, so the idea of grinding out a Mk XII set doesn’t appeal to me, but I don’t want to be a liability for when I do feel like doing ground. Also, grinding for resources. I kinda want the Fleet Tor’Khat/Vor’Cha, but the improvement in turn rate and inertia on the Fleet K’Tinga I just bought makes it handle almost like an escort – even without an RCS console… so I may stick with the Fleet K’tinga.
On my Fed, I’m basically just trying to earn EC and grind for resources for the fleet base. I can’t wait to get my hands on the Fleet Defiant, and later perhaps the fleet Prometheus.
Sargon,
In my opinion, the Jem Hadar set isn’t worth it. You get a 7% damage bonus at the expense of using 2 weak set pieces. All the benefits of the Borg set far outweigh the Jem set’s minor bonus to polaron weapons.

Codewarrior,
I would never advise dropping the second copy of TT1 unless you had 2 purple Conn officers. The only reason I have only 1 copy, is because the Conn officers essentially give me a second copy of TT1, freeing a slot for my second copy of BO1.
I think it’s based on total damage, and your contributions to meeting the objectives (it just happens that damage to objectives also adds to your damage total)
For comparison, this is my build for SB24 (this is scenario specific – my STF build differs slightly)
Ship: Tactical Escort Retrofit (Build will work with the Fleet version too, just add an AP Mag regulator)
Weapons
Fore: AP Dual Heavy Cannons MK XII x4
Aft: AP Turrets MK XII x3Notes: I use the 4th DHC over torpedoes, as torpedoes have a lower sustained DPS, are rubbish against shields, and lets me use all energy tac consoles. Also, you want total damage in this scenario, as it’s a target rich environment. In my STF build, I actually use a DBB in place of the 4th DHC for 2 copies of BO1, which give me some spike damage flexibility, without losing any single target sustained DPS (it actually gives me slightly more with my build if you time it right).
Other Space Equipment
Shields: MACO MK XII
Deflector: Borg
Engines: BorgNotes: if you use lots of heals, you can replace the Deflector and Engines with Omega Force pieces if you want extra damage with Tetryon Glider, but I prefer to live longer as a glass cannon.
Consoles
Tactical: AP Mag Regulator MK XII x4
Engineering: Cloaking Device (for the extra 15% damage after decloaking), Neutronium Alloy MK XII, Assimilated Console
Shields: Field Generator MK XII x2DOFF Layout
Shield Distribution Officer – Very Rare x3
Conn Officer (Tac Team/Attack Pattern Buff version) x2Notes: I’ll have an attack pattern uptime of 100%, so the attack pattern buff is significant here.
BOFF Layout
Cmdr Tac: TT1, CSV1, APB2, APB3
Lt.Cmdr Tac: BO1, CSV1, APO1
Lt Sci: HE1, TSS2
Lt Eng: EPTS1, EPTS2
Ens. Tac: BO1Notes:
1) only 1 copy of TT1 since I have the Conn Officers which give me a -16sec cooldown bonus.
2) Yes, the BO1 slots are wasted slots, but there’s nothing I can put in there that would be useful since I have no beams or torps (and yes, adding torps or beams actually lower the sustained DPS, even with skill buffs). That being said, my STF build uses those BO1 skills quite nicely.
3) APB2 and APB3 provide, IMO, the largest damage increases in the game. At -40 and -50 resistance against hull, you’re looking at a +67% and +100% damage AFTER modifiers (vs. Tac consoles and +% damage being added onto the base weapon damage), assuming a base target resistance of 0.
4) APO1 gets me to the next pack of targets faster, and gives me an additional +dmg opener (along with APAlpha) against shielded targets, so I can switch to APB2/3 ASAP, and bring the hurt.
I didn’t think that you got FM for SB24… If you do, let me know, and I’ll start grinding there again (I stopped because I find grinding SB 24 pretty mindless. At least with STFs, there’s a little variety).
Between my 2 characters, I now have 9 Prototype Borg Shields, 3 Prototype Deflectors, and NO engines.
This is starting to get a little rediculous.
I haven’t really been going after accolades though.[/color]
Well, I guess it depends on your point of view whether not they’re worth it (I plan on trying to get 2 ships: the Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit, and the Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier). You’ll have to decide if spending money on the Z-store fleet modules (or buying them off the exchange) is something you want to do, based on your own cost-benefit analysis.
Just remember that if you don’t own the Tier 5 vice admiral version of a ship on it’s own from the Z-store, you need to buy 4 fleet modules for 500 Zen each (or buy 4 off the exchange), whereas if you already own the ship you want the fleet version of from the z-store, you’ll only need to get 1 fleet module (e.g. I already own the Defiant and the Armitage from the z-store, so they’ll cost me 20k fleet credits + 1 fleet module each).
I think I should get a reward from PWE for logging in today…
