June 28, 2021 at 9:25 am #433492Thanks for the summary!
I’m sorry I missed the costume contest but (1) I was busy and (2) I’m taking a little break from STO to play other games. I’ll be back when Risa starts, don’t worry, I need to get my surfin’ Klingon some board shorts.

June 1, 2021 at 7:03 pm #433111Yeah, this one’s got me defeated. I think I see how I want to get up there, but I can’t get to the place I need to get to in order to get there.

The ones who stick around get used to her.

“I don’t know where she went. She’s not. Here.”
“Oh, no way. You don’t send me down to this asscrack of a system and then get to tell me to ‘keep looking.’ You want to find her, you fucking look for her.”
“Go blow a goat. I’m out of here.”

February 1, 2021 at 12:03 pm #431030There was some talk of adding a character biography or service history field to the ship registry, is that still in the works? Because I think that would be a lot of fun, I’m already thinking of what parts of the game lore my characters were really involved in.

“I’m going to Risa.”
(Submitted for lulz, don’t enter me in the drawing.)

October 30, 2020 at 6:49 pm #429815I love the movie Enterprise, it’s my favorite Enterprise.
My favorite ship in game is the NX Refit.
It flies well, has good bridge seating, a great trait, and the 5/2/1 layout is perfect for a front-arc dual-beam escort. And I *love* the way it looks, I thought the NX design on Enterprise was all right but add a secondary hull and a brighter, TOS-inspired paint scheme and I’m in love. Looks a heck of a lot more like an evolutionary step between Enterprise and TOS than any of the Discovery designs.

October 1, 2020 at 9:09 pm #429319All right, so that last scene probably needs some explanation.
As I mentioned, I created Mel Sandoval for a game a few years ago. During that game she fell hard for another player’s character, a boy with horns named Sar who hatched out of a rock and for some reason put up with Mel’s bullshit.
Mel died during the course of the game but as part of the epilogue she got a second chance at life and I decided she’d spend it trying to find Sar, no matter where it took her. So when another game needed a fill-in character I decided to re-introduce Mel. Except this game was set in the present day so at some point there must have been a time slip that brought her from 1983, when she originally died, to about a year and a half ago. Mel doesn’t always handle living in the future well, but it hasn’t stopped her yet.
So: recruited for a secret war, died while fighting it but got a second chance at life, ended up in the future…you can see why I decided my Original Series character was going to be a Mel copy. And since Star Trek Online lets you design your own alien bridge officers, I knew I had to make a Sar for her to explore the galaxy with.
The canonical Mel is still searching, but at least one of my Mels has found her version of him.
“This is a diplomatic mission, Mel. You can probably put the phaser away.”
“If there’s one thing I’ve learned, Sa’ar, it’s that no matter where I go, trouble finds me.”
“See? See?”

“…Mel. Call me Mel.”
“Mel? Are you all right?”
“You know what, big guy? I am. I really think that I am. Helm, take us out of here. Warp factor 3.”
