i have been grinding away on the nukura projects for all 4 alts. getting very old. i have decided to slow down on the grind and actually play the game again.
i’m not even sure if any of the nukura gear for space or ground is worth having. i had thought about upgrading at least one ship with the new tetryon weapons, but i am not sure now. i did the nimbus missions a few times to get those piercing tetryon weapons and i don’t really see any improvement with them.
i had also thought of doing an all romulan ship with rom weapons and space set. i was temporarily insane. i put the romulan set on one of my fed ships the other night and was reminded of just how bad that romulan space set is. i’m sure the reman set still sucks. i just leave the reman set on one of my shuttles. i did too much work for it to just throw it away.
i had been grinding for the romulan and nukara projects for my romulan, but now i have started the omega project because that is where the only decent sets are imho.
i am still not sold on the fleet advanced or elite space sets. i don’t think they measure up to the maco, omega or borg sets.
June 18, 2013 at 11:06 am #158841You know, you could have just asked what was worth having rather than grinding out tonnes of marks (or tried out most of the stuff on tribble at the test ds9 vendor)…
Anyways, I’ve been grinding out Nukara marks for 3 toons, and am happy to report that I only need 119 more Nukara marks to have enough to take all three toons to T5 Nukara rep. Then I’ll never grind another Nukara mark every again (hopefully).
The only stuff from the Nukara rep worth having IMO is the passives you get from actually getting the rep tiers, and the universal console if you have a beam boat (it gives +10 accuracy for beams). Otherwise, I wouldn’t bother with anything else in that rep system.
Overall, what people should be grinding for (because we all know how much time it takes to get this stuff is):
Shields: Fleet Elite Resilient Shields [ResA/B][Cap]x2[Adapt] (Res A for PvE, ResB for PvP) OR Adapted MACO(KHG) shields (regular MACO shields conflict with Plasmonic Leech, and quite frankly you’d rather have leech) OR MAYBE the Tholian Shields (will have to crunch the numbers)
Impulse: Omega Mk XII (for escorts without a cloak) OR Adapted MACO(KHG) mk XII (For battle cloaking ships with Torpedoes) OR Borg Mk XII (For basically everything else)
Deflector: Omega Mk XII (for escorts without a cloak)/ Adapted MACO(KHG) mk XII (For battle cloaking ships with Torpedoes)/ Borg Mk XII (For basically everything else)
Warp Core: Upcoming Fleet Elite Warp Cores
Weapons: Fleet Advanced [acc]x2[dmg]x2 OR Fleet Elite [acc]x2[dmg] (for KDF only) OR Very Rare Mk XII [acc]x3 OR Hybrid Mk XII [Acc]x2 (Polarized disruptors and Phased Polarons preferred) AND/OR Romulan Hyper Plasma Torpedo Launcher
Pets: Fleet elite Yellowstone runabouts, Elite Scorpion Fighters, Fleet Elite Orion Interceptors
Consoles: Assimilated Consoles, New Dilithium Mine Consoles
The new tetryons, piercing tetryons aren’t all that worthwhile.

So is this conflict with leech going to be fixed? Or is the by design?
June 18, 2013 at 12:01 pm #158843the rep tier passives have been my primary nukura goal. i am about to tier 4 on all 4 alts. once i hit 5 i think i will retire from nukura for at least for a long time if not forever. i have a couple beam boats but not sure i would want the nukura console bad enough to continue the nukura grind.
on my new alts i am pretty much just doing one ship only so i don’t have a lot of need for stuff.
my advice to any new player would be one ship per alt.

Acocrding to the last Tribble notes, it’s by design.
June 18, 2013 at 4:16 pm #158845Agreed on all of the above.
I’m grinding all three Reps for my new Romulan, I’m not bothering with Nukara for my other alts, at least not as a priority – only fill the remaining Nukura Rep when I feel like it, which is not very often.
For Nukara, I only do Ensnared, and doing that once a day seems enough for the Nuk Rep’s hunger.
It’s the passives I’m interested in, as I still feel that MACO/Omega/Borg sets (both space and ground) are a real must have. Romulan/Reman and Nukara kits I still find meh (though I have a feeling a good EV set will be required in the future, even for non-Tholian maps).
Equipment wise, on my list are the Rom Hyper Torpedo, the Omega Torp, the Rom console and a full set of Romulan hybrid beams/cannons for my Rommie, which will eventually alternate with the Elite Flt Disruptors when they become available. Meaning I may not even fill Tier 5 on all reps.
Long story short; grind for a purpose or you’ll end up banana’s from the constant mind-numbing grinding 🙂

And here I was using the macro set with the leach. I’m switching to the adapted shields with borg engine/deflector.
June 22, 2013 at 5:25 am #158847Can FEDs get the leach or is it KDF ony? Please forgive my ignorance…
June 22, 2013 at 7:34 am #158848Feds get the leech off a lockbox reward pack. they’re not expensive though.

Yah, I got mine for my rom. char for about 1.5 mill on the exchange.
We ALL say & do stupid things sometimes...
Forgive, you WILL feel better!June 29, 2013 at 11:20 pm #158850Picked one up today for 750k. Thx
July 2, 2013 at 12:29 pm #158851well the patch got extended so i will catch up on the forum.
the nukura grind ended up not being too bad. i am about done with all 4 alts, just for the passives.
on Sargon i think i will do one ship with all nukura gear just for the heck of it.
my romulan is working for some omega gear.
my sci alt has all that she needs so no grind there.
my klingon is just waiting for t5 disruptors.
i have not spent any real dollars on this game for quite some time now and i manage to keep up, although acquiring dilithium has slowed down with 4 alts, but i really don’t need much now.
i totally skipped Risa in order to finish 4 nukura projects. i sure don’t need another ship.
i like the one ship concept for my alts; much easier to keep up with.
July 9, 2013 at 9:50 am #158840Black i commend your patience really. (and all those who are doing it on 4 or more alts)
For me it was enough to grind all 3 reps on my main. And i am never touching that again. I would rather grind fleet marks and dili and get fleet version of equipment for my alts. Yes i will lose the rep perks but i would rather hit myself in face with hot iron than do it again.
I give all 20 thumbs down to reputation system for not being account wide. Boooooo!! 😕

Oh come on its not that bad… omega is pretty much automatic by running stf’s which will get a good dilithium flow as well. we run the elites all the time or join PublicEliteStf channel for devent pickups. rom just hunt the stupid bunnies, takes 5 mins a day and once you have a good que of them cooking, the marks will start rolling in. just cook them all the way. nukara sucked bad at first but during the bonus hour you can hit the random que and run CC (normal) for an easy 50 marks or 40 otherwise, you could probably afk as well. NOTE: do not run CC elite unless you have a pre-made group.
Take your time, and try to enjoy some of the missions from time to time. You will have t5 before you know it.
July 9, 2013 at 2:43 pm #158853The rep system isn’t that bad in itself. The ‘bad’ part comes in repetition. For all the shortcomings of SWTOR, they did one thing right…account wide reputation. cryptic should take some tips from there how to encourage players to play more alts not less.
I had plans to roll more alts but because of rep system i am not going to. I am even thinking about deleting my sci officer and just keep my rom and klingon. I just don’t have it in me to do it again. 🙁
