The new content looks wonderful! Finally a proper bit of TOS in STO! 😎
Came as a surprise, although I suspected something was cooking since they teased TOS with “Temporal Front” video. I wasn’t thinking big enough – nice connection of current story flow and Trek anniversary.
I’m leaning toward Tellarite tactical officer but I could change my mind once in the character creator.
This could go live late August, early September?
Edit: Seems like July in more accurate.
Not a fan of TOS, I grew up TNG. But I know this makes a lot of players happy, so I’m glad for them. I’m just still patiently waiting for a re-do of the Sovereign to wrap me back in. Sorry for being MIA, been doing a lot of training with work and such.

Seriously, this sounds pretty cool! TOS adventures and a gaggle of classic stuff including 6 new classic outfits. Maybe not quite but we must be on the edge of a t6 Connie. Back a couple of months we spitballed trying to do some team gameplay with brand new captains. Who wants to rock it out in your great great grandparents final frontier?
New character concepts based on TOS incoming 🙂 .
It seems like Eternal and Ouroboros will be available to all factions.
T6 temporal ships will be able to use lower tier variant skin (Nautilus can have Daedelus skin, for example).
I love TOS and the cast of the show made Star Trek, but I can’t say I am excited about a new character. I never touch my Delta alt. May sit this one out.
There’s been a three hour (!) interview with Maria Rousseau aka Zeronius Rex on The Show.
There’s not been a lot of extra info on the coming expansion Agents of Yesterday, except that there will be more than 6 missions in AoY.
Some take-away notes;
Regarding lagg;
– Cryptic is painly aware of the issue (metrics) and is investigating.GFX / Risa FPS lagg;
– possibly tied to AMD Hyperthreading issue,
– new Risa grass had unintentionally a bazillion triangles (fixed),
– update(s) game memspecs to work with the newes drives may cause troubles with (10 year) old(er) driver memspecs.
– Some other unmentioned issue they are working on/have fixed.Loce has had the FPS bug on Risa, and had to dial down/modify his gfx settings. Let us know if you have issues too so we can post a possible fix.
Server lagg;
– they made changes to the network and loadbalancing, but that’s handled by Perfect World and not Cryptic.Other;
– No Win Scenario will not return in its current form (if ever?)
– No extra Elite maps because “we don’t want STO to become a DPS game” (…)
– There is an unfinished Deep Space 9 revamped map on a shelf collecting dust due to lack of time/resources.The new TOS Federation faction can be best compared with the Romulan faction; allied with the Federation they can only use a few of the standard Federation ships, but ‘standard’ Feds cannot use the low-tier TOS ships. Some of the AoY Tier 6 ships are cross-faction.
As said elsewhere, for now we’ll assign all new Temporal Agent toons to our 44th Delta Fleet.
"Boldly bashing Borg to bits since 2012..."I had to play around a bit and wait out a couple of downloads until the most recent updates to Tribble took properly. AoY is a lot of fun. It feels pretty brief but it manages to establish a relationship to TOS by placing you on the fringe of various canon storylines each mission. It’s a fun little visit but I burned through the posted missions in no time.
There are some bugs and spelling errors in the dialogue and everything is still silent but I the nostalgia was pretty entertaining. It feels very similar in format to the other arcs starter missions but in the end it didn’t really matter. The 1500 series utility cruiser looks pretty hot and I admired it happily as I classic phasered the shit out of old school villains.
I hope they make additional classic missions beyond the first arc; I’d really like to see more stories set in the 23rd century. I’m pissy about not being able to put on my green command tunic on Tribble yet. If this is an oversight I hope they get the tailor working along with some of the other kinks when it goes live. I’m not into buying a “temporal command tunic” if I already own a serviceable classic one.
Does anyone know why they made the daedalus a T2 ship? In spite of the plug they made for it that sgip is a rolling turd. Older than the connie the Daedalus is the Albatross of the Void. Anybody who watched TOS knows Daedalus missions never ended well.
