For those who don’t already know, it’s Sonequa Martin-Green, who played Sasha Williams on “The Walking Dead” TV Show.
She will be playing Lt Commander Rainsford, commanding officer of the U.S.S. Discovery

December 26, 2016 at 4:45 pm #178523I think I’m the only person in the Western hemisphere who has not seen the Walking Dead, but from what I hear, she’s well liked as an actor. I’m kind of avoiding most news about ST:D just so I can enjoy the surprise (“immersion”?) to the fullest. Heard about the other two male leads and the new alien race. Curious to see what they’ll be doing with the Klingons. Still trying to get to like the new Discovery ship type…
Wait and see.
"Boldly bashing Borg to bits since 2012..."January 7, 2017 at 6:13 am #178723I think the ship we’ve seen is bloody ugly, but then, I was never a huge fan of Picard’s Enterprise either, so what do I know? 🙂
Not to worry, I don’t plan on running spoilers for the show here — I understand the desire to see the show “cold”, as they say. I actually hate spoilers myself. I just figured people might be curious to see the actress cast in the lead.
Cheers,

January 7, 2017 at 9:35 am #178728Hey Shaw, I also hate spoilers but I’m very interested to see the cast. Haven’t heard about new alien race but I was reading that last Star Trek movie had 50 new races, one for each year of Trek! Most of them appeard only for a short moment. :O
January 7, 2017 at 5:18 pm #178732Looking forward to the new series. I’ve enjoyed all of them so far.

No not the only one in the western hemisphere……me too.
January 13, 2017 at 12:44 pm #178824I like TWD, not for the gore/horror aspect of it but for the philosophical and moral implications of the world suddenly become extremely hazardous and society essentially eroding to survival of the fittest who can rationalize their method of survival. Some characters are really good. Overall very well put together show. Sasha has been on since S3 and a decent character/actress. I think being a starship captain might be quite distant from that work though LOL, or… maybe not that far IDK. Time will tell.
