One of the things that drew me to this fleet (or at least brought it to my attention) was Lat’s posts for basic guides on each STF (term used loosely for any mission que, not just Borg ones.) I doubt they have been updated in some time and a very short look on the big board I was not able to find them although honestly I didn’t look that hard. There are a ton of que missions now, and many people don’t play them because they just don’t know how and dont want to screw it up. Just this week I walked Resto and Cross through UIA – one of the easiest ground missions there are and they both had fun and we kicked ass and tooks names, etc. It’s really quite easy to farm even on Elite as long as you stay within mission parameters.
I was thinking to reboot this concept, either just for fleet/armada or perhaps post up on the big board too, although honestly I don’t read it that much due to all the negativity. Would this be something that the fleet might be interested in reading/using/maybe even helping edit? It might help get people to explore strange new ques and seek out new civilizations to destroy. Thoughts?
July 22, 2016 at 12:50 pm #164578Sure, we’d be open for that. Thing is, there are a lot of youtubes out there that provide walkthroughs – to be sure some good, some not so much – and that’s why we let it slide a bit. We could begin by going through them and listing them (why reinvent the wheel etc) and add out own tips and tricks. But besides that, it would be a good idea to overhaul the walkthroughs, especially now with the influx of new and returning players.
On a side note, it looks like Palcioz will indeed take over the keys of this website, and that means we can once again upload/post here without the fear it would all get lost in a galaxy far, far away.
"Boldly bashing Borg to bits since 2012..."July 22, 2016 at 1:34 pm #164579I would be down to help out with these. As you know, I spend a lot of time in stfs so I can add some insight
July 22, 2016 at 4:40 pm #164580I had in mind just “in a nutshell”/essentials/”what you NEED to know” rather than a complete walkthrough series, although hints, tips, tricks, or links to more advanced strategies might be good too. Just so it doesn’t get too long! I don’t want the reader to have to wade through a mountain, just the simplest possible assessment – enough to get primed for the mission without needing to be there or type everything out over and over. I think it could also be a recruitment tool as well, although indirect.
I threw something together for ISA, it got a little larger than I’d like but there are a lot of moving pieces LOL. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kZEKOVhlua-5onxxs9FeLI7nxmrnlceuFeNxcFKRv2s/edit?usp=sharing
July 22, 2016 at 4:58 pm #164581That is good stuff. Well thought out and put-together
July 23, 2016 at 9:34 am #164582TYVM resto! I will aspire to keep writing.
July 23, 2016 at 9:39 am #164583let me know if you need insight.. I know a lot of the mechanics of the fights.
July 23, 2016 at 5:05 pm #164584I might take you up on that later! I’ve played pretty much all of them a good number of times, with some exceptions so that’s where I will probably ask for help. For now I need a little help with the sections someone would be interested in which are basically repeated for each.
ALSO KNOWN AS – I think this is good, to help reduce confusion.
REGION – Of course.
EASE OF COMPLETION – I am really wanting to promote some que’s which the fleet pretty much never does that, in my mind, are really easy or quite efficient for the time/rewards. Along with a recommended difficulty level (char level and equipment permitting)
FAIL CONDITIONS – For sure!
OPTIONALS – ? maybe only if it would cause failure? or maybe list how much difference it is with/without the optional in marks? would this help encourage running a particular que or essential information? thinking maybe to club with rewards instead of a seperate section.
REWARDS – ? this is listed in STO, but trying to give a good rewards/effort or efficiency if you should need particular marks or drops
EXPECTED RUNTIME – if you never ran it, would you want to know in advance? times can vary greatly by teams, and if you just QUE it, etc.
SUMMARY: This is the guts, so of course this should be good. There might be questions of how much is needed, or the level of detail, etc. but that will need to be specific to the que.July 23, 2016 at 5:24 pm #164585If you want to divvy up those, I could do the ones you aren’t too familiar with and you take ones you know.
February 9, 2017 at 5:23 pm #179707Hey Code, we could add guide to stf-s to our website, under Resources tab. Are you still working on this? I’d like to help.
February 10, 2017 at 11:31 am #179720Not actively. I think the template is good, and the link is still valid – if you don’t have edit permissions let me know. Feel free to add what you like and link to the non-editable version from the website (don’t share the link above as it has write access!)
