Looking for advice and criticism on this current setup on a tactical variant of the Fed Miracle Worker ship.

First off, please forgive me for being a plasma nut. I like the colour of the beams. I’m a tac captain, btw. Images attached.

    Beams : 6 x Romulan Plasma Beams + 1 x Experimental Romulan Plasma Beam
    Torp : 1 x Particle Emission Plasma

Deflector/Impulse/Warp : PreEminent (I know plasma isn’t optimal with this and I usually use the Dyson 4-set… but I’m liking the PreE atm)
Shields : Dyson Regenerative (awaiting PreEminent to complete)

Eng Consoles : 2 x Enhanced Neutronium EPS
Sci Consoles : Plasma-Generating Weapon Signature Nullifier (ShHeal) / Shield Repairing Weapon Signature Nullifier (AiS)
Tac Consoles : Vulnerability Exploiter (Plasma) x 3
Uni Consoles : Crimson Force Field / Zero-Point Energy Conduit / Assimilated Module / Plasmonic Leech / Enhanced Plasma Manifold

    Boff Skills :

    Tac : TacTeam1 / BfW2 / BO3 / TorpSpread2… plus Distributed Targeting 1 and Kemocite-Laced Weaponry 3
Eng : Emergency Power to Shields / Emergency Power to Weapons / A2B1 / A2B2 / Energy Weapons Exceed Rated Limits 3
    Sci : SciTeam1 / Hazard Emitters2

    Captain Traits :

Personal Space : Warp Theorist / Superior Beam Training / Accurate / Elusive / Repair Crews / Operative / Beam Barrage / Point Blank Shot / Self-Modulating Fire
Starship Traits : Emergency Weapon Cycle / Redirecting Arrays / All Hands on Deck / Battle Ready / Peak Efficiency
Space Rep : Aux Power Config – Offence / Aux Power Config – Defence / Advanced Targeting Systems / Precision / Superior Shield Repair
Active Rep (space) : Refracting Tetryon Cascade / Bio-Molecular Shield

Specialisation : Intelligence Officer/Miracle Worker (Primary) complete. Almost completed Pilot (Secondary)/Strategist. Commando/Command untouched. Temporal in progress.

    Tray Layout etc :

Left Shift Key bound to .txt file that cycles tray 7, fires beams and torps, and distributes shields. I have the FoV set to 75. Space tray is set to display 4 trays (image shows the 7th so the skills are visible).

Alternative T6 Fed Ships Available :

Breen Carrier / Son’a Battlecruiser / Herald Vonph Dread Carrier / Eclipse Cruiser / Temporal Battlecruiser / Experimental Science / Phantom Escort / Scryer Science / All 3 Miracle Worker variants / Presidio Battlecruiser / Andromeda Cruiser / Arbiter Battlecruiser / Reliant Adv Cruiser / Guardian Cruiser

How does all this feel while playing?

I enjoy broadsiding with the occasional nod in to fire torps. I play at advanced and am happy with my DpS feel (though I haven’t parsed my output since restarting the game) and manouvreability… and the ‘innovative’ mechanic on this ship is useful,  fun and engaging. Shields feel strong but less so the hull. I tried the ship with all 3 MW consoles slotted but wasn’t keen on the salvage pods and plating. I’m not sure how effective the crimson forcefield is, but it looks pretty. I’m no expert on consoles and what’s available and best to use. I’ve aimed at power-production and flow in order to feed the beams, rapid BOff skills on an A2B build… and fun. I’m absolutely certain I’m missing a ton of things I should be doing, or gear that I have that’s useless or below-par, or gear that I’m missing… so… as it would be better to perform optimally during fleet shoot-ups, I’d appreciate any pointers you helpful old-timers have.

Pfff “oldtimers”… Just because I’m old enough to have seen TNG and still have the original VHS tapes (yes, tapes) doesn’t mean I’m… oh, nevermind.

If this build works for you then by all means just roll with it.

Since I don’t have the ship yet (planning to get the Fed 3-pack next week) or the space set I’ll pass on that for now, just some general notes.

If you’re going plasma and use the experimental plasma beam and console, might as well slot the Rom Hyper plasma torpedo (aft), and take advantage of the 3pc set Plasma Hyperflux.
That hyper-string of snotballs btw is still very good when having to burn down static targets like Borg cubes and gates. You can slot both the Particle Emission Plasma *and* the Rom plasma forward in ISA or KSA for some solid green plasma funsies.

One thing you need to change however is your Space reps: Aux Pwr Config Offense/Defense. Since you’re using an Aux2Bat build your aux power is close to zero more often than not.

This is just me, but I’m not a fan of Aux2Bat anymore. With the current cooldown reductions Aux2Bat is just outdated, and you sacrifice just too much for the cooldown it gives (2x extra Eng Boff slots, 3x Doff slots,no aux power buffs).

Play around with a Drake setup (2x EPTx, 2-3 Damage Ctrl Engineers), as this will free up 2 Engineer Bridge officer powers, plus this will boost your Aux Pwr Config Offense/Defense *and* heals like Hazard Emitters.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions.

    That’s a lot of snot.

VHS. You’ve got to laugh. 8-track and Laserdisk. Heck… 64k Spectrum tape-loading screeches. Marvellous times.

Luckily, my hyper-plasma was epick’d… so in it went. Also luckily, I had the right DOffs loafing around in the Engineering department’s secret distillery… so on active they went. Brought up a couple of extra EngBoff skills and off I went patrolling for a quick test.

I’ll leave it running while I keep an eye on it all but first impressions were a less active beam-spray. Gaps in my green sparks. That may be down to one less beam bank though. On the plus side, the ships innovations fired up more often, as I had a couple more engineering skills to play with. Barclay manoeuvre ftw.

I like this ship and I think you will, too. It’s fun. Stocky and muscular but not as ugly as the scuttle would have it.

I was first interested in the Tac version’s FAW buff, but it’s the Scott Operations cruiser’s T6 traitStay at your post” that really peaks my interest. I might just get the Scott and the KDF/Rom version for the trait, if it turns out that good – the Science T6 is utter meh, especially if it also can be cleansed by Tac Team like a regular Boarding Party.

Stay at your post” seems made for a Drake/EPTx build (99% of all my ships), and may permanently replace “Reciprocity“. Heck, “Stay” may sync just right with “All Hands on Deck” for my Science builds…

I’m pondering just getting the Ops versions of the Fed for my Fed toons and eventually the equivalent Rom/KDF version when there’s a ship sale. It’s still far off, but early next year the next expansion will drop and that will cost 16,000 zen, so I have to start putting some aside. And knowing myself I will have various weak moments between now and then and splurge on keys and what not.

So much to keep up with. Glad I read this post. I probably still have some old builds that are extinct, like the aux2bat. i have forgotten more than i know when it comes to STO.

I’m not so sure the A2B build is yet extinct. It has certain downsides (as above) but as a tac-oriented beamy broadsider, in direct comparison to a Drake build over the past couple of days (identical ship, identical gearset) the A2B build maintains a heavier rain of fire than the Drake and it appears that EptX pops more often, too (though I don’t know if this is precise or not). This more consistent and even rate of fire is further enhanced with focused frenzy, exceed rated limits and a longer-lasting, finger-lickin’ good BFaW.

A2B is an old build, as is the Drake, but for what it’s worth, I’d spend some time comparing the two before giving up on one or t’other.

I’m not done choosing just yet either. I have different consoles and traits to experiment with. All fun 🙂

Edit : Going to spend a few days parsing just to settle my own mind, before giving the dps-meter a viking funeral.
