Looks like the devs are giving us a no-win scenario for ground next weekend. This promises to be fun. Anybody think a 44th fleet team can make it 100 rounds?

February 21, 2017 at 3:04 am #180027I’m definately game 🙂
Though as long as that Tac stealth buff + Kligat bug won’t be fixed, this will be a cakewalk (you can fire that Kligat while cloaked 24/7), so I expect a few nerfs/fixes for ground really soon.
Looking fwd to this one though, something new and different.
"Boldly bashing Borg to bits since 2012..."February 21, 2017 at 9:13 am #180037Could be those balance changes were timed for this event. If that combo is so deadly, they need to bring tac captains down to level of other two professions.. too bad Kligat had to suffer.
So if I got it right, once I die in Arena of Sompek, match is over for me and team continues with 4 players? My sci main will want to bring some healing then. Really looking forward to this, No Win Scenario was one of my favourite queues as it required tactic more than anything else. I’d really like to get to 100 with 44th, lets do some planning and strategy when this go live – which kit modules to bring, what gear to equip, timing of abilities, etc. I suspect waves will be tougher as we approach 100.
February 21, 2017 at 12:14 pm #180040I am up to trying this as well, would probably bring my engineer with fabrications and support drones.
aka Stompar
February 22, 2017 at 9:15 pm #180047Given the lastest patch notes on Tribble, I’m also excited to see how well a bunch of engineers can fortify a position in this queue:
February 23, 2017 at 1:11 am #180069Yup, Kligat nerfed…
This is a serious Ground power reset, not sure yet if it’s an improvement. Also nice to see the Gravimetric Torp is fixed.
"Boldly bashing Borg to bits since 2012..."February 23, 2017 at 1:36 am #180073Really, I think that it’s pretty smart of the developers to put an event like this right after a big rebalancing. If anything is going to get players to find an overpowered meta in the new rules, this is it.
February 23, 2017 at 4:40 am #180076Ground powers needed balancing, to c/p current NTTE records:
Tactical : 5,190.42 DPS
Engineer: 2,024.41 DPS
Science: 1,456.15 DPSI hope this is just a start, and other powers will be revised. My level of commitment to ground combat isn’t so dedicated to dps but I sure will consider what powers I use and how, for Arena of Stompek.
February 23, 2017 at 1:21 pm #180097NWS was fun, looking forward to upping my ground game to try to compete here.
February 23, 2017 at 5:51 pm #180101Well, done it a few times now. First impression is that, besides a few bugs (slow loading enemy mobs), it’s quite hectic. At level 10 things get ‘interesting’, with many holds and heavy artillery making respawning nearly impossible.
As long as 1 team member is alive, you can safely respawn if killed. You loose when the entire team is dead / incapacitated.
Trick is to keep moving – a lot ! Not only do the mobs get stronger, some traps on the map will activate so Run Forrest, Run.
Solar Gateway, the K13 Nomad / Methusaleh drones (for diversion in addition to the Shard of Possibilities) and Science Captain’ Cold Fusion Flash come in handy. Once again I found the Romulan Plasma Piercing rifles useful as they stun/distract targets for a very short period. The Herald AP Beam Projector (Lobi store) and Boolean cannon will probably do better. Also I noticed that spawning Borgs don’t adapt to your weapons, so you don’t have to remodulate which is convenient.
These are just my initial impressions. A full mission/map overview will be up in the future.
"Boldly bashing Borg to bits since 2012..."February 24, 2017 at 1:00 am #180104Well, I gave it a couple of PuG tries and made 32 rounds the first time and 11 the second. Seems like the event rewards are pretty good, and (unsurprisingly) one of the players was AFK for one of the matches. 🙁
Generally, agro-breaking powers seemed to be pretty useful. Ambush, visual dampening field, and shard of possibilities were all nice to have. Motion accelerator was nice to have when hazards and control-based enemies ended up in the same round.
It did seem that the borg adapted to my plasma rifle — nothing that can’t be solved by keeping a tr-116b or shotgun in your back pocket, though.
