    Hello fellow Trekkies,

My father was a fan of the original TV Series and I have followed it on Netflix, on TV, and the movies and in general just have an interest in space. I am a newcomer to the game and I am glad I found your site. I am currently working on a Federation Alien Tactical Officer to get my feet wet in how to play this game. I hope to level up soon enough to join your fleet. I don’t plan to spend much money on this game so I won’t be getting any uber pay to get equipment any time soon. Any help you can offer I will greatly appreciate because I definitely want to be better at this game and to help a fleet as best I can if I am able to join.

Thanks again for creating this great resource center. I am already using the Control/Hud option settings, the different scaling options, and the keybindings for space. I want some for ground as well but reading through the FAQ is a bit confusing.

Hi Ilqo, welcome to our forum. Glad you find those guides useful – if you’ll have any questions, you can post them here in the reply. We also have a member-only section of forum so you’ll find more topics with builds there, when you join.

I think you can join fleet at level 5 with fed and kdf, and around level 10 with other factions. Yeah, you can get decent equipment for free from missions and events, and it is more than enough for pve content. Alien character gets that extra trait slot so it is the best option, in my opinion.

    See you in-game! (:

Hello Ilqo. Although the game mechanic requires your character to be a certain level to join a fleet in-game, there is no such limit for joining the 44th. The only rule is that you follow our rules 🙂

So if you’re 18+ feel free to Join the 44th so you can visit our members-only section, join our in-game chat channel and our discord.
Joining a STO fleet means you get many discounts and benefits that will enhance your gameplay.

You do not have to spend any real $ to enjoy Star Trek Online and even get the best, top of the line gear; it just means you have to spend more time in-game to earn them. It’s doable as many of our free2play members fly top tier ships. Also, you do not need to have the latest and greatest; using the free gear you earn for playing missions you will do just fine.

See you out there captain !

Thank you Vice-Admiral Damix for the very warm welcome. The guides are rather useful but the one I am reading over for the ground key bindings seem a bit information overload. I am not sure which files I need and use because he’s got about a dozen of them in there to choose from. Of course I am very new to the game so a lot of references don’t make sense to me.

The Abbreviations Hilbert uses in his guide for skills also don’t really mean much to me. I read over his FAQ for his space keybindings and I see no explanation for the abbreviation for the ship skills he loads in the bars. At my level I probably don’t have a lot of those skills available to me anyway.

Admiral Marcase, I thank you for the warm reception. To think that Starfleet would openly accept a brand new alien race to their ranks and trust me at my word is amazingly gratifying. Not everyone is in love with my species, but that keeps things interesting. I am not extremely proud to be a Captain by happenstance. Schaeffer was a good man. But, here I am…The Federation had a need and apparently I am the one to answer the call.

I am well over 18+ and have joined the Discord Channel and submitted an application to The Mighty 44th in the hopes that I may soon be accepted into your ranks. It would make me very proud and would be yet another first step of what I hope is many in the long line of my race in Federation and Star Fleet cooperation.

I have heard this game is very FTP friendly and I do not mind to grind it ’til I find it type of approach. That’s how the old school RPG’s were anyway. I’d rather earn than cash burn.

Thank you Admiral Marcase. May truth and logic always light the way.

You’re welcome, no problem. If you wonder why we’re so friendly and accepting and even risking inviting face-eating aliens, it’s because in case of emergency we have this little red button named “Airlock” on stand-by 😀

Even though you can’t join the fleet in-game yet untill you’re leveled, you’re already invited into our 44th-diplo chat so make sure to say hi there so we can add you as a friend – this is so we can easily find you.

Btw we can also join and assist you if you need help with a challenging episode. Basically for some Romulan Ale we’re willing to join anything.^^
