= State of the Fleet, April 2015 =
Greetings Fleet!
Every so now and then we take a step back and take a look back so new and veteran players know where we are and where we are heading with the Mighty 44th.
A few stats; as of today our fleet roster lists 477 fleet members, 4 Admirals, 4 Vice-Admirals, 4 Commodores, 1 Fleet Ambassador and 13 Ambassadors (honorary members of different fleets acting as point of contact), spread out over our three fleets – and we are still growing.
On average we welcome 8-10 new members every month, and we remove 3-4 members (with alts) due to +1 year absence without notice, with the option to return with full rank and privileges.
We may throw you out of the airlock, but at least you will be wearing an EV suit.I’m also pleasantly surprised that besides gamers of all ages from all over the world, we actually have a few full families joining; parents and “secondary adjuncts” (kids) joined up, and I’m glad that we can provide a pleasant environment for them to play in, even if we go off our rocker now and then (looking at you Andy :)).
Sargon and I run the fleet as benign dictators, but we are both in full agreement that we run the fleet “bottom up”; we will always ask what the fleet wants/thinks before any major changes are made – we see ourselves more as fleet administrators than as imperial leaders. With two Fleet Admirals we try to cover most time-zones.
Stay in touch with this forum and voice your opinions, ideas and suggestions !Vice-Admiral Grouchy.Otaku, a long-time and very active member, has decided to take a step back from the game. We wish him well on his other endeavours.
Commodore Sensei-Krieger is still recovering from a previous accident and hopefully doing well, and we’re looking forward to his return.
A salute to Commodore Blackout, our resident Top Dog, for continued assistance by instructing new and veteran players on STO’s ever changing game-mechanics, complete with many dazzling math break-downs.
Also a salute to Fleet Ambassador Damix, who moved from Europe to Australia but still took the time to make a valuable contribution to our fleet on many fronts.
Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to our long-time fleet member TylerDurden@indubioveritas last March.
I was pleased to see many took a moment and wrote a note on his far too early passing.By this time the Delta Recruitment is really taking off, and so far it seems a succesfull launch with already a legion of Delta Recruits joining the ranks of the 44th.
It’s a good thing we started a third fleet back when we did; our main 44th Fleet just isn’t able to handle the massive influx of extra alts, and the new 44th Delta Fleet is ideally suited to take on your new alts in addition to the many new players we have welcomed in the last few months.
This gave the Delta fleet a head-start and current holdings are about 20% complete with many projects still available, so the “fleet only” dilithium that Delta recruits bring can be freely spend there.
The KDF also still has room with the main projects having been completed quite some time ago, so now the KDF’s extra amenities/window dressings can be added. We’ll start the most productive/usefull ones first before we run the Bartender and Chef etc.
Thankfully the KDF starbase already completed the dancing Orion Girls and drinking fountain – trust your Command Staff to make the proper priorities. 😀To make it clear, there is absolutely no limit to the number of Delta Recruits or alts you can have in this fleet.
Federation Delta Recruits will be placed in the 44th Delta Fleet, with the option to be moved to the main (Fed) 44th Fleet. If your Delta alt requires something from the main fleet, contact the 44th Command Staff so we can move and promote you (needed for Fleet store access). The only rule is that you have to be a Lieutenant minimum (ie at least 4 weeks in the fleet and 50K fleet credits per the normal rules).
KDF Delta’s will join our standing KDF’s 44th Assault Squadron. To quote Sargon “create the character you want and we will accomodate” :).
Sargon will also decide when we will rename the 44th Strategic Logistics Division (shades of SHIELD) and to what. If you have a suggestion, chime in and let us know.
Also note that bribes will be accepted.Note: Vote completed; Strategic Logistics Division is now the 44th Delta Fleet.
Role-playing is back in the fleet too, with fleet mate @Sovereign47 starting an entertaining and compelling storyline. Check it out and add your character’s adventures.
Our Teamspeak server is still a deserted desert: teamspeak often conflicts with home situations (family vacuuming or turning the radio to max) and many are usually grinding different missions turning TS in an interruption instead of an asset, but TS is still there for those of you that like to use it.
Face it, this is a chaotic MMORPG and not COD or MW.Finally, the rate of promotions will change a bit. Instead of the first weekend of every month promotions will be more personal and be every four weeks after joining; command staff now use the Officer Comments as a guide and we will promote you if you are active. The previous system meant some would only be promoted after 6-7 weeks if they enlisted in the ‘wrong’ part of the month.
Your alts will receive the same rank of your main (even if it’s just a dormant farmer), just let us know if we missed one.
We may continue with listing monthly promotions but most of you will be promoted and receive unlocks before the list, so we’ll reconsider if that list is still really needed.Captains, thank you for your good nature, humor and general pleasantness; without you the 44th wouldn’t be –
the Mighty 44th !
