- Main character’s name:[/*:n4oikn1r] Cryptixia@cryptynl
- Real name:[/*:n4oikn1r] Lars
- Age:[/*:n4oikn1r] 26
- Location:[/*:n4oikn1r] The Netherlands (GMT +1:00)
- Alt character names:[/*:n4oikn1r] None yet
- Silver, gold or lifetime:[/*:n4oikn1r] Silver
- Tell us about yourself:[/*:n4oikn1r] I started gaming online when I was 10 years or so of age, playing FPS games first, followed by MMOs years later. By now I’ve played about a dozen MMOs if I count everything I only played a few months before deciding I wasn’t gonna dedicate my time to them. The two I’ve played the longest were City of Heroes/Villains (which–to my great regret–was discontinued a year or two ago) and EVE Online. The latter one I played for roughly 8 years.
- Why did you choose the Mighty 44th:[/*:n4oikn1r] Uhmm…. Your thread was near the top at the fleet forum on the STO board? Well, ok, there was a little more to it than that. There were actually a few that caught my initial attention as I scanned the list. I looked at three, this one included, and quickly decided I liked the looks of this one the most. Myself I’ve been a leader of a long list of clans, guilds, corporations, supergroups and etceteras, and I’ve always been the one that set up and maintained the group’s resources in- and out-of-game; including, but not limited to, websites and voice chat servers–integrating everything into as seamless a single system as possible. Because of that I’ve also come to appreciate when others seem to have their act together in this area, which appears to be the case for 44th Fleet. More so than the average group, at least. I like what you’ve done with the website, the presence of a Teamspeak server is a good sign and–last, but definitely not least–I like your rules and regulations. More people should define such things; I always did. People need to learn to understand it’s not a matter of not trusting your members without it, but rather making it unmistakably clear what is expected of a person in an effort to forestall drama.
- Have you read the rules:[/*:n4oikn1r] Read them, recited them, memorized them, had nightmares about them.
- Are you willing to use Teamspeak:[/*:n4oikn1r] Yes.
So why do I want to join a fleet to begin with?
I’m new to STO, very new, but I’m really liking it so far. Thus far I’ve just been following the story line, upgrading my assets with whatever acquired by chance and–in all honestly–really been piecing together what all those tiny, wretched, inconspicuous buttons everywhere do; and I don’t think that’s going to work much longer. I have plenty of experience with MMOs to know I’ve only barely scratched the surface at this point, but I know that I’ve arrived at that point where the ability to ask someone else how a certain thing is to be achieved is going to be really helpful. At some point where you grasp the concepts, but miss some details, the smallest nudges in the right direction can have the biggest effect on your progress.Really all I’m hoping to find here is an easy going bunch of people out to have fun together, and willing to extend a helping hand to each other now and then.
P.S. Yeah, yeah, I know…. I’m already not doing as asked by registering with a name other than my global handle, but this is my regular nickname. This is the name that should’ve been, so bite me.
