Interesting new Star Trek project funded through Kickstarter.
“Axanar takes place 21 years before the events of “Where no Man Has Gone Before”, the first Kirk episode of the original Star Trek”

April 24, 2014 at 4:22 pm #159988This is the only fanfic I actually made a contribution to. I was tempted to aid Renegades, but only Axenar really enthused me enough to pull my wallet. The feedback and podcast interviews, but especially the big ‘Hollywood’ (BSG!) names involved -both in front and behind the camera- really has me interested in this project.
I’m not a real fan of fan productions, they never really ‘got to me’, even if they’re high quality. Guess it’s the purist in me. Star Trek Continues, Renegades and some others really aren’t that bad, but they’re still fanfics with all the caveats and low budget drawbacks, but they do try :).
Axenar isn’t so much a fanfic, but a pilot to be pitched as a new Star Trek TV series.
Chance for that to actually happen I consider between zero and not much, but I wish them well.

December 30, 2015 at 2:33 pm #159990Axanar to be sued for copyright infringement?
December 30, 2015 at 2:48 pm #159992hmm… I’ve been listening to all the Axanar podcasts and I remember Alec Peters saying they had talked to Paramount and had it legally sorted.
Guess they’re scared of the quality Axanar is producing – at a snail’s pace to be sure, but still.
Dang, I hope this will blow over…
"Boldly bashing Borg to bits since 2012..."June 28, 2016 at 4:45 am #159993i must admit i was a fan of the axanar production so much so that i funded the axanar production on indiegogo. the production is at the moment in production hell at the moment brcause cbs owner of rights has issued guidelines that make any fan film unworkable
June 28, 2016 at 6:02 am #159994Those guidelines are big NO to all those interesting ST projects. I expected from them to prevent only those that are making profit from ST, giving them chance to adapt so they can continue making episodes.
So will they give you your money back? Do they plan to finish it, making it a generic space movie inspired by ST?
June 29, 2016 at 7:35 am #159995as I said it is in production hell they are negotiating with cbs yo see if they can get it made with cbs blessing. That being said they have the option to make it into an A.U.(like star wars)or to write out any star trek references as actual filming has not started yet. The one thing they are committed to is to complete the film.
