    7/3/19 – Day One!

Seeing everyone on Discord and the Facebook group I follow start talking about the event after it started, I sat impatiently at my desk at work just waiting for the hours to go by so I could head home and check everything out for myself. Finally, that time came and I raced home, sat down, and signed in with hope in my heart, ready to do a bit of relaxing and lots of silly costume/item buying on Risa. And boy did I…

The first event starting soon after I signed on was the dance competition, which I had already been given the tip to pin my emote bar to the screen to make switching dances easier. And easy it was, as well as incredibly fun and satisfying! Sure, there are a lot of NPCs on the dance floor with you, but seeing all the other players was pure joy. We all switched dances as instructed, performing the silliest of motions at times, and sometimes changed outfits to fit the activity we were doing (gotta have a club outfit for some club dancing, right?). It was simple and at times repetitive, but also quite relaxing and enjoyable to watch.

Then, if memory serves, came a hoverboard race. I thought, though the speed of my phoenix box hoverboard wasn’t as high as the top end ones, the higher turn rate would serve me well enough. I… was kinda wrong. I had plenty of practice going around the island from the days leading up to the event, but when you’re in the moment, racing against other players, hitting jumps and boosts, and trying to stay inside the boundary markers I found myself making stupid mistakes and taking silly risks. This resulted in my missing a turn and going WELL outside the course boundary, which fails the race. But here’s the thing. I still had a blast with it! I used the remaining time to run the course again just to get a better feel for it, and found some ways to improve my run for next time. I was determined to win next time! Though I wasn’t quite prepared for the flag at the end I found out later…

While I had read about this part, I again wasn’t quite prepared for it. At the end of the race is a “flag” with the resulting place you’re currently in. And you have to hit it before it counts you as finishing in that place. And by hit it, I mean get close enough to it to interact with it… without blowing past it since you’re probably traveling at full speed… and knowing that if you don’t hit it before someone else, the flag will move to a different place, which will cause you to have to reposition to interact with it. Honestly, it’s a mess of a system that kinda takes that rush of flying through the finish line away. And since there are boundary markers right past the finish line, you also have to NOT be going so fast that you go past the boundaries, which is something I did often throughout the night sadly. Still, as I got better at the race and at hopefully not failing at the finish line I found it to be challenging and fun. But that end kinda killed it sometimes for me.

But flying… now that is just a good time! I found it quite necessary to purchase a good floater if you plan on doing the Biathalon (even the top of the line Impulsive type, since honestly it’s noticeably faster than even the Superiors), but I think even the regular cheap ones can be used to do the basic “Flying High” mission needed for the event tokens. You’ll just be able to complete it much faster with a better floater though.

And the floaters are QUITE handy during the Horga’hn Hunt and Artifact finding missions. Horga’hn Hunt is quite simple, since you just go to the place marked and “collect” the idol there. Do that 10 times and you beat it. I know many people will have multiple characters on the island and will jump from one to the next to maximize their Lohlunat Favor collection, but I found finishing fast meant I had some extra time to go shop in game or go afk to get a drink before the next event. And for the Artifact finding mission, make sure to check out Chanfron’s guide. The map of where they can be is EXTREMELY useful! https://startrek.44thfleet.com/forums/topic/risa-accolades-guide/

On top of that, I was able to hit a couple of the remaining Accolades I had to wait for the event to start to complete, and also did the minor mission of Sandcastle building (complete with all the Accolades as well). And with the fast paced schedule of events, the Lohlunat Favors just kept rolling in.

But my favorite part by far was switching over to an instance of Risa where many of the Fleet members were. It felt like hanging out with friends, playing games, and showing off cool stuff. We’d say hi to each other, dance in a group during the Dance Off, show off outfits, and just relax. I know I plan on always trying to find an instance with other members since it just made the whole event feel more real for some reason. A HUGE thanks to all who stopped by and interacted with me and others to make my first day of my first Summer Event rock!

As I expected, it felt like a lot of grinding. But since much of this game can feel like that, this was a very welcome change of pace! Staying in one place, no load screens to worry about, and nothing but silly activities and silly outfits made it just as fun as I had hoped it would be. I’m greatly looking forward to getting back to Risa tonight after work! Hope to see some of you there!

For myself, it took 45 boxes. I know others in the Fleet did around 70 and 103. So yeah, quite a bit.

So as well as the build was performing, I decided to make a change just to see if I liked the way the abilities worked a bit better. I removed the AP Omegas (using 1 AP Beta instead), switched to FAW III, and switched a Kentari Eng for a Kentari Sci officer to get Photonic Officer II for cooldown reduction. This… worked amazingly well. Here’s the changes I made and the extremely nice 139.75k dps (with 59k of that from pets)!

Glad I was able to finally post it! Yeah, might switch to 3 of the DCEs instead and see if it helps. I always liked the bit of extra healing from the one doff, but not sure I really need it. My hull doesn’t move much.

I’ll check out if I can do those devices from my inventory! That would be fantastic if I could!

And glad you got the reference. 😉 Almost all my ships have a similar theme to the names…

Now with working pictures! Thanks to Damix!

Ok, so got the stuff together for my build to share! I’m sure there’s areas to improve, and my power is no where near as good as Nubia’s, but it works quite well. So here we are with the U.S.S. Midnight Dreary!

Obviously there’s some upgrading that needs to be done. I used my last Ultimate Upgrades to do the TTF Phaser Array and Advanced Phaser Beams as well as the Warp Core and Impulse Engines. Already had the TTF Torpedo upgraded as well as the few upgraded consoles from my other ship builds. Crit chance will certainly go up with upgraded Vulnerability consoles.

Boffs are 2 Romulan Tac, 1 Sci JHV, 1 Eng JHV, and 1 Eng Kentari

The 3 Flight Deck Officers, with the skills on the ship itself, make my pets have an 8 second recharge. This is key given the traits I’m using for pet buffing (Scramble Fighters).

    Personal Space Traits:
    Superior Beam Training
    Terran Targeting Systems
    Starship Traits:
Space Reputation Traits: (all Rank 2)
My power at rest versus during combat with both Emergency Powers activated. Again, not as good as Nubia’s, but certainly gets the job done. Even the low Engine power doesn’t really become a problem with the dual copies of Attack Pattern Omega.
Here’s my spacebar trays (yes, I use two on the same binding file for simplicity). Having the Hangar Deployment buttons are key to getting the most out of Scramble Fighters buffing and protecting your pets. With Wing Commander, these things level FAST, which also helps them stay alive and any that die don’t take long at all to rank back up.
And finally here’s the ISA run I did right after taking all these pictures. This seems to be about average for the build. I’ve gotten as high as 130k at times as well. Also, I know this with go down a bit when they fix the problem with FAW I counting as III for the Advanced Phasers right now. But once I upgrade everything it should go up again too!

Glad they’re fixing it, but sadly that will lower my dps with this build. Lol. Oh well. 🙂

Ah, good point. Sorry for that confusion.

did some more testing of my version of the build last night and in one run hit 130k. I think that was just a perfect storm though of buffs/debuffs from other players. Seems to be coming in around 110-115k mostly with a good run. I’ll post it sometime in the next couple days.

So far, this is now my main ship hands down.

Ah, that explains the high resists you have then! I plan on doing a few more tests tonight to see if I can increase things a bit, but having the extra tankiness might be nice since there were certainly a couple times I had to pop a few things to keep alive in ISA.I actually also switched out ST for HE and added that to the attack bar mainly for the res buff it gives. My shields were certainly hurting though, so may go back to ST for a bit of shield heal.

Didn’t realize those DBBs were 250 arcs! That makes a lot of sense why to use them! The Advance Phasers are really nice, however, so will probably stick with those.

With the pet traits and doffs (recharge time variant) slotted the pets do the workhorse of the damage for me. Gets their cooldown to 8 sec, and with Scramble Fighters equipped that really helps both with their damage and their staying alive. Of course, Superior Area Denial also helps. 😉 With Wing Commander they level up so fast they tend to live longer as well.

Once I do a bit more tweaking tonight I’ll see about throwing the build up. 🙂

So I realized using Entwined Tactical Matrices actually benefits the current bug with the Advanced Phaser Beam Arrays right now, since FAW I counts as FAW III for them. I’m also curious, if you remove the DBBs for regular Arrays if you’ll keep the RCS counsole since you won’t have to line up your ship as much anymore? Using the Pilot Spec, I know I’ll be replacing it with an Agony console for extra phaser damage and crit hit chance. Still, using what you have above with a minor tweak in swapping out the Engineering Team for Narrow Sensor Bands I, and not being able to upgrade the ship items sadly, got 109K dps on it. So definitely a fun build!

With all the pet traits and doffs I’m using, those things do the brunt of the damage for sure though. 😉

Anukis, what are you running for boff skills? A2B? And what are your power settings?

I’ve been real excited for this set and I’m extremely pleased to hear it performs well! At the end of the battle, given the possible boost to your hull due to the 4 piece buff, what did your hull end up at? That’s something I’m very curious to see.

Finishing my T5 rep today, so can’t wait to play with it all. Though don’t have enough to upgrade everything sadly. 🙁

I just saw on reddit that apparently the new phasers are bugged as well. Activating FAW III will only actually give them the FAW I buff. FAW II works normally. FAW I gives them III though.

I know when I create a Rom will be with the Feds simple because I have so many of the ships I want to give him for traits. Seems like the easy way to do it.

Is that true though? I thought the Romulans can get it from a console pack since I don’t think they can fly the Prototype Dreadnought cruiser.

I got it last night and I came to the same conclusion: it’s a beast! Totally agree on Argala. I’ve done that patrol SOOOOOO many times and usually the Hirogen Hunter waves give me the toughest time of the 3 types of enemies you can get, but they were no worse than any of the other types with those pets.

I ran some ISAs to test the dps and was surprised I didn’t do better, but I think there’s still some tweaks to my build I can make to improve it. Yeah, I do think I found a new favorite for a beam/carrier ship for certain.
