So as a followup now that I’m a couple weeks acquainted with the current STO.
How should my Bridge Officer layouts look? Are there any specific ones should be getting? For example I have the heirarchy intelligence specialist… how exactly is that better than any other regular science BOFF? I also read up on their traits, are they active as long as they are listed underneath my ship name or do I have to select their active traits somewhere?
Last one is what exactly is a pilot, command, temporal and intelligence specialist? I notice that their abilities are different, do they really matter over the regular ones?

I think the first big move we made was upgrading the website.
Now here we are in 2016 with another shiny new one (if anyone knows how many websites redesigns we went through they get a cookie)

Thanks for taking the time to write everything out. I think the best thing would be to start a new character and level him up a bit to get a feel for everything before jumping back into my main.
I think some of this stuff is still way over my head seeing how it took me 5+ min to figure out how to get moving 😳

I leave the forums for like 2 weeks and all of these changes are super exciting! I’m glad that palcioz’s technical ability way surpasses my own and we’re finally getting a proper overhaul of our systems… definitely the TLC that was desperately needed as this site hit 7-8 years old. 😕

Thanks for the support. In terms of the website going away, that will never happen. Even if we can’t figure out a hosting/donation solution, I won’t just turn my back on it. Rest assured that the fleet website and domain will stay up.
It is my preference that someone with website/hosting experience takes over however for reasons I’ve stated above. This website was made admittedly quite sloppy from the back end of things and it will take some TLC to update it (which is why I haven’t). As of now, everything just “works” but hell if I know how/why 😆 I’m sure we’re all aware of the invisible text bug that somehow fixes itself after a couple of minutes.
Actual maintenance of this website is quite easy. Except for the much needed security and version updates, it takes care of itself and all the administrator would have to do is keep a backup of the website on their harddrives every so often (which also admittedly I haven’t done in over a year 😳
The site itself costs $144.00 a year 😕
But it terms of using something else, it does need security updates which I don’t necessarily have time for within the next 6 months (but I do have them on my agenda within the next year)
With that said, I feel like a strong recruiting point is this website. Its unique, its advertisement free, and we have full control over all aspects of it so we can add/remove things that we need.
