Following up from my reply about the film i mentioned i had just watched the remastered Season 3 of The Next Generation and said i thought it was one of the best Seasons they did, so i decided to find out if anyone agrees that S3 was the best Season of TNG?

I just started my 2nd run through of the TNG Season 3 Blu-Ray. I really think S3 had to be up there as one of there best seasons! It has some quality episodes, “Yesterdays Enterprise”, “The Offspring”, “Sarek” and the legendary “The Best of both worlds #1 & #2” (best of both worlds was S04e01 but they joined into one for the S3 Blu-Ray)

well i had to vote “not sure”. a big fan, but i don’t recall seasons. when TNG came on it was always a big night for me and my wife. we loved Q and she apparently liked the actor in some soap opera she watched before he became Q.

i was very impressed with TNG. i had seen TOS first run. i always wanted more ST and they certainly delivered with TNG. Picard is very convincing as a starship captain.

i also thought Voyager was very well done. Although Nelix (sp?) i did not care for.

i thought DS9 was the weakest until Enterprise came along, which was very disappointing. i really had high hopes for Enterprise, but i just could not get into the crew.

i do like the new crew on the latest ST movie. my wife and i particularly think the doctor and uhura were casted very well.

You should definitely look into the new ST TNG BluRays! U’ll love them, they are remastered into full HD and all the cutscenes have been redone with latest technology. We are currently at season 3! Season 1 & 2 have been out a few months, they are every few months. They cost around £50 but u get 5 discs which have the 1080p Videos & Extras relevant to those seasons. Personally i got mine online, if u want a source PM me with ur email add. Season 4 is due out in august i think.

If your a ST fan there a must see! I’ve watched all the seasons through several times in the past with the DVD set but watching S3 in full Glorious HD reminded me what a great season 3 was. I know that “Yesterday’s Enterprise”, “Offspring” and “Best of both worlds” were voted as top episodes in TNG in several documentaries & sites. Also S3 was the last season that Gene Roddenberry actually oversaw the scripts (I think it was around the end of S3 that he had to stop from ill health”, also S3 saw a few new writers like Ronald D moore write episodes & new producers & directors joined in S3. Also S3 saw Gate Mcfadden rejoin because of the fans, also the new uniforms were used which i’m sure made the cast happier and more comfortable (Well according to S3 extras cast interviews it was the case). But this is just my opinion, saying its what i think was the best doesn’t mean the others were not good. Far from it the others were all great seasons its just if i had to rank them i’d put S3 on top but only by the slightest margins between then all.

I know that after Gene Roddenberry died new ideas made their way into the scripts which Gene would never have allowed in, but even though Rick Berman took on the mantle of keeping the scripts true to Genes ideas he definitely allowed his arm to be twisted to allow new ideas in (this is described in a documentary where Rick was asked why the Statue of Gene had a blindfold around its eyes, where he replied it was something that happened when a new idea was discussed in ricks office that went against Genes legacy and rick new this was the case and put the blindfold on the statue to show that these ideas would not of gone down well with gene). So this is also a reason i loved S3!
