with all the rain down here there was not a lot to do besides playing STO. i had many records this weekend.
longest winning streak ever in STFs with the optionals too! this is due to the record number of times i played with 44th fleet mates. we have some really good captains in this fleet. i think we have a great fleet.
this weekend was the first time ever, yes ever, that i won a CSE while not protecting kang. since i am a tac officer i am trying to use escorts more. this weekend i decided to learn to love my mobius. i think i did pretty good with it in CSE and other STFs. i even gave up my beloved 180 cannons to go all DHCs up front; very effective and looks cool too.

It was a record setting weekend indeed.
I made about 320 million EC over the last 4 days, buying and reselling undervalued stuff on the exchange (highlights include: 2 mk xi accx3 phaser dhcs bought for 150k each, sold for 8.5 million each; 1 VR MKXII Mag regulator bought for 5 million EC, sold for 33 million; and one MKXII VR Phaser Relay, bought for 10 million, sold for 30 million), bringing me up to 360 million).
So last night I gave in and bought a Jem’Hadar Attack Ship off the exchange for 199 million EC. Now I have to go make more EC =p
I made the decision to buy the bug since they are nerfing the Mobius in an upcoming patch (see the latest tribble notes). They’re removing the 10% bonus defense, and +15 weapons power (they said these extra bonuses were unintentional), so the bug ship is once again superior, with it’s 20 turn rate, 0.22 impulse modifier (fastest ship in the game), and 5 tac consoles.
I’m also 8 EDCs from completing my second MK XI MACO Ground set (I really don’t have the patience to play IGE, so I’ll just get the MKII through the reputation system), which is less exciting, but still noteworthy.
I always miss the good stuff!!! didnt play much this weekend and i only just about got my hour of tribble test in. I still cant get over how much EC u guys earn!!! I mean i know u sell stuff but what do u do just stick them on for a really high price? I never get any decent drops to sell and the its I do get and sell they never seem to go!
Id e lucky to earn 5mil EC in one day. So u make all this money by buying & selling? how do u know what to sell?
i have never earned that kind of ECs….impressive.
so i start warming up to the mobius and now it gets nerfed. total bummer.

I was pretty excited as last week, I finally earned enough EC to purchase my coveted Galor Cruiser. I’m in love with the thing. Handles a lot better than that monstrous Oddessy and has some impressive shields.
I’m going to have try some of that buying and selling. I don’t have much for ECs now, and I don’t get many good drops on my own to sell on the market.
Honestly, playing the exchange isn’t difficult. It’s about looking for stuff that’s been priced below market value, and re-posting it for market value. The key is that in order to make big money, you need to have a good amount of EC in the first place (50 million EC is probably the minimum seed size, and 100 million is my recommended seed size, because that’s when you can start getting into the bigger items that will net you 1 million+ in a single transaction on a regular basis)
On a small scale for a short sell, it’s like finding a rare mk xi phaser relay for 17k, and reselling it for 150-280k, which will sell usually in 30 minutes or less.
On a larger scale short sell, it’s buying very rare mk xii disruptor coils for 18-23 million, and selling them for 24-25 million, which will usually sell within 48 hours.
On a large scale long sell, it’s like buying a Jem Hadar Attack Ship for 200 million, and selling it for 350 million in a couple of months, or buying subnuke doffs for 10-15 million, and selling them later for 30-50 million when the supply invariably runs out in 4-6 months.
If you have less than 100 million I also recommend not keeping and binding stuff, even if you “need” the item that you bought undervalued. e.g you just bought a VR Mk XII Mag Regulator for 5 million. You need 5 of these for your build., but you only had 5 million to begin with. You should sell that Mag Regulator for 33-38 million instead of keeping it, because you make money faster with 33-38 million as your seed investment, than you would with nothing – which means you’re now required spend valuable time grinding for EC, rather than dilithium/marks.
dang….the most i ever had at one time was 10 million and then i spent some zen to increase to 1 billion i think it is, which is kind of funny now, because i make only a few million a week at the most. i have used a lot of ECs buying stuff so i can contribute to the base. i keep saying i am going to stop that, but since i usually have limited resources to contribute that is a way that i manage to contribute to get fleet credits.

Being an absolute ‘noob’ I never even thought about playing the exchange. So after reading this topic I thought “I can do that….on a small scale”. Next thing I know a shield amplifier bought for 35k, sold for 195k. Crash, bang, wallop and the jobs a good’un.
I’m beginning to really like this game.
