i needed some room so i decided to take the old enterprise out before i discharged it. i really like the beams it has. i thought i would see if i could use a full set of beams and discharged the ship and claimed it again, but i could only equip 2 of the blue phasers, which have a great sound btw.
in case you did not know it you can take stuff off a ship, discharge, re-claim it and get the same stuff, like an antimatter spread, for example. of course that raises the question of how many console slots are you willing to give up for that kind of stuff. anyway, i digress…..
so now i have a ship that has phasers, but 2 are the retrofit, a very nice blue and 2 are the orange that phasers come in now. i tried the ship out and it actually does very well.
now back to my original question: is this a rainbow build or just mixed phaser types?
i plan to take the ship out into the public knowing i will get some name callng. i have named her appropriately.
the U.S.S. Nooby Noo
🙂August 4, 2012 at 3:27 pm #156125I think the reason you can only eqiup 2 is because they are specific to front and back. There’s a fore and an aft beam array. As far as I know you can still discharge and reclaim. These weapons are leveless and they level with you. However, you can obtain similar ones that are mark XI (blue) from the mission “everything old is new”.
http://www.stowiki.org/Mission:_Everything_Old_is_NewSince theses are all phasers, this is not technically a rainbow build.
August 4, 2012 at 4:25 pm #156126I love the blue phasers.
August 4, 2012 at 6:53 pm #156127I’ve used AP since they were available to me and have never tried the [edit: blue Phasers]. I have a set of MKxi[borg] phasers and a DBB I can switch out. 3x blue MKxi relays… Might work well using the new Warfare Specialist BOs w/+10% vs. Borg…
August 5, 2012 at 9:57 pm #156128well i entertained myself this afternoon tinkering around with it. i decided to de-commission the USS Nooby Noo. i thought it was kind of funny; a take from Scoody Doo, but want to represent the fleet a little more seriously. i actually did some recruiting or attempted to recruit on zone chat this evening. i hope to get us some contributing members.
i will have to revisit the everything old is new mission to check out those phasers.

Just a word of caution if recruiting over zone. There does exist an automatic chat ban system which is in place. If enough people report you for spam, you will get penalized with a 24-hr chat ban (including private channels). This is system generated, and is solely based on a number of people right-clicking your name, and selecting ‘report spam’. While we appreciate your effort, we wouldn’t want you to be hit with the ban hammer for 24hrs.
Personally, I have zone chat turned off. I’ve seen some of the most racist, insulting, derogatory remarks there, and decided that I really don’t need to read all that. Besides, when it comes to recruiting, I value quality over quantity anyway.
August 5, 2012 at 7:24 am #156130i was only replying to those asking, but thanks for the info. the ones asking seemed to be taking their time shopping around. i really think a lot of people are looking for a fleet like the 44th; minimum requirements.
i’m looking forward to seeing what type of fleet weapons will be available.
August 5, 2012 at 1:17 pm #156131since you all are such big fans of “zone” chat 🙂 just saw a guy that wants to join a fleet with a well established base with at least a space dock 3 that would be willing to let him have a defiant. 😯 i DID NOT try to recruit this guy!

Yup. That’s why I try not to advertise too loudly what level our fleet base is. Don’t really want people to join just to get a ship and then leave.
August 5, 2012 at 5:35 pm #156133Allow me to be honest here as I don’t know enough to answer my own question.
Via permissions, can we disallow people from just joining the fleet to get a ship and then drop from the fleet? If yes then excellent, if no then we might want to rethink fleet recruiting for now.

after reading your post it hit me. front and back phasers. i got another set and now have a full set of blue phasers. looks and sounds great, but not something you would want to take into PVP. oh well…
