I think it’s based on total damage, and your contributions to meeting the objectives (it just happens that damage to objectives also adds to your damage total)
For comparison, this is my build for SB24 (this is scenario specific – my STF build differs slightly)
Ship: Tactical Escort Retrofit (Build will work with the Fleet version too, just add an AP Mag regulator)
Weapons
Fore: AP Dual Heavy Cannons MK XII x4
Aft: AP Turrets MK XII x3Notes: I use the 4th DHC over torpedoes, as torpedoes have a lower sustained DPS, are rubbish against shields, and lets me use all energy tac consoles. Also, you want total damage in this scenario, as it’s a target rich environment. In my STF build, I actually use a DBB in place of the 4th DHC for 2 copies of BO1, which give me some spike damage flexibility, without losing any single target sustained DPS (it actually gives me slightly more with my build if you time it right).
Other Space Equipment
Shields: MACO MK XII
Deflector: Borg
Engines: BorgNotes: if you use lots of heals, you can replace the Deflector and Engines with Omega Force pieces if you want extra damage with Tetryon Glider, but I prefer to live longer as a glass cannon.
Consoles
Tactical: AP Mag Regulator MK XII x4
Engineering: Cloaking Device (for the extra 15% damage after decloaking), Neutronium Alloy MK XII, Assimilated Console
Shields: Field Generator MK XII x2DOFF Layout
Shield Distribution Officer – Very Rare x3
Conn Officer (Tac Team/Attack Pattern Buff version) x2Notes: I’ll have an attack pattern uptime of 100%, so the attack pattern buff is significant here.
BOFF Layout
Cmdr Tac: TT1, CSV1, APB2, APB3
Lt.Cmdr Tac: BO1, CSV1, APO1
Lt Sci: HE1, TSS2
Lt Eng: EPTS1, EPTS2
Ens. Tac: BO1Notes:
1) only 1 copy of TT1 since I have the Conn Officers which give me a -16sec cooldown bonus.
2) Yes, the BO1 slots are wasted slots, but there’s nothing I can put in there that would be useful since I have no beams or torps (and yes, adding torps or beams actually lower the sustained DPS, even with skill buffs). That being said, my STF build uses those BO1 skills quite nicely.
3) APB2 and APB3 provide, IMO, the largest damage increases in the game. At -40 and -50 resistance against hull, you’re looking at a +67% and +100% damage AFTER modifiers (vs. Tac consoles and +% damage being added onto the base weapon damage), assuming a base target resistance of 0.
4) APO1 gets me to the next pack of targets faster, and gives me an additional +dmg opener (along with APAlpha) against shielded targets, so I can switch to APB2/3 ASAP, and bring the hurt.
July 27, 2012 at 4:19 pm #155996I only have the Patrol Escort so I am limited for that. I currently am using polaron weapons, so I wonder if I should try mixing in some of the Jem’Hadar set for Dominion Synergy.
For abilities, I might be able to swap a CRF for CSV but it seems a bit situational without any control to stack them closer or a big target to plow into. I love TT1 too much to give up a slot for it, but will look closer at the attack patterns, currently I have APO3 which I really like to help survive as well as dish out more dmg. I try to keep all abilities juggled manually. I’m just silver so not sure what options I have to swap a BO for this. Kinda bored of PUG STF’s so maybe I can just train it and deal with it.
Thanks for the tips!
July 27, 2012 at 4:48 pm #155997this thread has me thinking, believe it or not.
i have an oddy armed with polaron weapons. i currently use a 3 piece borg set with maco 12 shields. i have wondered if i should try the jem’hadar set with the polaron, but since it is only level 11 i have hesitated. have you tried it yet??
July 27, 2012 at 5:09 pm #155998Sargon,
In my opinion, the Jem Hadar set isn’t worth it. You get a 7% damage bonus at the expense of using 2 weak set pieces. All the benefits of the Borg set far outweigh the Jem set’s minor bonus to polaron weapons.

Codewarrior,
I would never advise dropping the second copy of TT1 unless you had 2 purple Conn officers. The only reason I have only 1 copy, is because the Conn officers essentially give me a second copy of TT1, freeing a slot for my second copy of BO1.
July 28, 2012 at 9:11 am #155999bodgeupFleet MemberI saw this threads title and was instantly curious. I followed some of the tips and played the starbase 24 event but i wasnt getting much EC from it? I was gettingt 30000 a time so i must be doing something wrong? Also I found that There wasnt much interest in the Public Queue, I played a few times but then players started dropping off and eventually the queue came to a halt because there wasnt enough players. Im probably playing at the wrong times of the day but i tried it out again today and the rewards for playing were very low, also I didnt seem to be getting any positional info from the events themselves? Am i doing the right thing? U were talking about the starbase 23 event in the PvE queues wasnt u?
Also I wasn’t getting any decent drops, just the same old rubbish i always seem to get. On a different subject quick is there anything u can do to effect what sort of drops u get from playing? I am plaing at Elite difficulty setting as always but i never seem to get as much decent gear from drops as other people? Im i just really unlucky or what? people keep saying about all this great gear they get from drops bgut i just get toot.

July 28, 2012 at 1:31 pm #156001Here is how the rewards for “fleet actions” work.
You get some sort of gear reward at the end of the mission depending on how well you score relative to other players in the same instance. If the objectives are to “Kill x 50 times”, then it is basically a DPS race. At the end, the person with the highest “score” gets a purple item. Second place gets a blue, and on down the line. There is no EC reward. The EC comes when you sell the purple on the exchange.
In addition, every day, there is a ‘fleet action daily’. One of the fleet actions is chosen as the ‘daily’, and completing it will earn you dilithium. Doing other fleet actions that are not the chosen daily will not reward dilithium. Which one is chosen is supposedly random, but it seems to me that it is always Romulan Temple (formerly known as ‘big dig’).
