i was not planning on getting anymore ships, but recently got the Chimera and i like it!
i don’t get a commission, but the lifetime sale is something to consider. on each character i got the yacht and chimera. i forgot the name of the destroyer for the klingon. but anyway, that is 6 ships along with several other nice perks; like the android boff and increased dilithium refining, but back to the chimera….
if i recall correctly the greek mythological creature chimera was a fire breathing mix of lion, goat and serpent. a good name for this ship. it has the hull of a cruiser, but handles like an escort.
i think it is kind of ugly, but it brings a lot to the fight. the chimera may end up being my favorite ship.
the weapons are nice too. the lotus is very cool and seems pretty powerful. looking forward to testing it some more this weekend.
the only set i had available was the aegis and it seems to work well on that ship. just for fun i tried the reman set on it, but as usual it did not perform as well.
The Chimera is ugly as sin, but it’s a solid ship.. but really not even close to being as good as it’s KDF counterpart (i keep wanting to call it the Penguin).
Having a battle cloak on a ship that isn’t as fragile as a piece of paper is nuts…
Either way, the Aegis set is pretty darn good. Now that the Borg set is getting nerfed, I’m thinking about going back to the Aegis set. A lot of great tanking potential there… The Reman set… it’s just awful.
Ok, so not to hijack the thread, but what is the “Aegis” set you’re talking about? I’ve got the Breen set, the Remen set, and the Borg set…
Yeah the chimera is making me consider getting the lifetime sub! its looks sweet. an escort with the tanking ability of a light cruiser, combined with those consoles and the 2 modes.
Think it will be my favorite ship too!

The Aegis set was developed from captured Borg technology. You can craft the set at Memory Alpha or buy it on the exchange.

I can craft this for you if you provide the ingredients.
so this post has been hijacked. the aegis set is pretty easy to get and helps you on accolades doing all the exploration missions to get the material. i also think it is a pretty good set and the “cosmetics” on that set are great.
with the borg set getting nerfed i have brought it back into play. something else i like about the aegis set is that you can transfer it.
my new sci alt has nothing good (finally level 40 last night) and i was able to send her an aegis set. again, getting off topic, leveling up an alt is a real pain in the you know what. i actually think the fastest way to level up has been doing exploration missions. hoping to get enough material to craft some decent consoles.
now back to topic…..i had actually planned on being all science with my new sci alt, but the chimera will definitely be in my ship line up.
I just got my Sci alt to level 50 this morning through a lot of Doffing. I basically transferred all my non-bound purple Doffs to my alt, and I’ve been getting a lot of XP and CXP. That, in combination with the Mirror event and replaying “Spin the Wheel” and “Skirmish”have allowed me to level like crazy.
Anyways, my sci alt doesn’t have a single science ship. They just don’t have enough oopmh for me (even with sensor analysis), so my Sci alt is getting an MVAE/Fleet Advanced Escort. The Chimera is good, but sci powers themselves are pretty meh… and I just can’t stand that the ship looks like a fish from the side.
i pay attention to what the fleet says about these things. now you have me thinking about my future choice of ships. i liked the science officer in a science ship concept. at level 40 my ship selections for science were not impressive and i have the same mirror versions still in the box. i have had them on the exchange for quite some time along with many others trying to sell those.
old Sargon tossed the vulcan science vessel and that is currently my top ship. i always liked that ship and it looks great with the aegis set and performs pretty well at this level.
the mvae is an awesome ship and there is the fleet version. i have time to think about it for sure. leveling up to 40 this weekend wore me out. getting to 50 may take more time.
