okay so i have a strange sense of humor. this thread made me laugh out loud more than once. i just had to post this thread here for those of you that are wise enough to stay away from the STO forum.
there is some truth here and some of it sure applies to me. it might you too. 🙂
April 22, 2013 at 4:46 pm #158330Funny stuff! and yet a little sad too… with the playing time claimed and not unlocking the EC cap? priceless
Don’t forget this is a game.
If you care to play a lot on a shoestring budget, do yourself a favor and buy the collector’s edition so you get the red matter capacitor and bank unlocks, the only thing you don’t get are account bank expands but you can use it quite well for transferring account locked items just not long term storage. If you don’t have 2 alts already at 50, go ahead and play them up over the month sub you get so you get some free respecs and full bank slots or you will be short and once you have had the space its no fun to have a char with fewer 🙁 then trade some dili to but the EC upgrade back and you are set.
The rest will come in time, no matter how much or little you play.I had done a month sub for $15 so didn’t get RMC 🙁 live and learn.
April 24, 2013 at 8:56 am #158331LOLing at the other people’s comments. And BTW, does the original poster not know about the dilithium exchange? 😆
April 24, 2013 at 10:42 am #158332like you captinjack it was people’s replies that really cracked me up. very funny and some of it was extremely dry humor, which i always like.
the guy that posted the happy trails youtube was great. as a kid Dale Evans and Roy Rogers were really big. i doubt that most of you guys would recognize them and be happy about that.
i highly recommend the youtube video if any of you did not bother to watch it. a little piece of history from a different era. I did not watch Happy Trails first run. i checked wikipedia and it filmed 1951 – 1957, but it ran as re-runs for years.
i have to admit the last thing i do before bed time is STO and the first thing in the morniing. 🙂
April 24, 2013 at 5:52 pm #158333“I quit” threads in game forums are the only posts that, to me, are all the same whether it’s written by someone raging and acting a fool or by someone trying to act like they’re a guest on Oprah recanting the inspirational tale of how you learned the secret of life. Both are just as sad and pointless.
What surprises me is how every one of those posts seems to have the tone of “I’m going to go do real life stuff and that makes me better than you shmucks”. I’m sure they exist, but why have I never seen a post that just says “I am leaving the game but thanks to the developers and those that played along with me that made the game a great and fun place to be.”?
It’s a hobby that is like any other. I do a fair amount of woodworking. I started years ago when I made a replacement top for a coffee table I refused to throw away because I really liked it. Years later (and far more money than I’ve ever spent on a game) I can make all kinds of furniture and am a whiz at guessing what kind and how much of a stain to use to match a color. I really enjoy woodworking. I really enjoy gaming. I’ll continue to do both and don’t feel that just because one has “tangible” results that it’s somehow superior to the other.
What made me happy about that thread though was that there were nearly no mean posts in it. I’m used to seeing a huge amount of downright mean replies and it was nice to see people either being supportive or injecting humor without being mean.
May 1, 2013 at 10:02 am #158334That thread made me so very happy…
Since I’ve been playing so long, I was having dreams about the game and attributing qualities of it to things in the real world like driving my car figuring what turn rate it might have and if my next car should be better.
I thought I was the only one who ever did that!! 😆
My truck turning rate is about 6-8. I’m thinking about installing a RCS Accelerator… 😆We ALL say & do stupid things sometimes...
Forgive, you WILL feel better!February 22, 2015 at 12:05 pm #158335Wasn’t so funny to me at first, until I read this line:
Since I’ve been playing so long, I was having dreams about the game and attributing qualities of it to things in the real world like driving my car figuring what turn rate it might have and if my next car should be better.
😆 😆 😆
I almost felt of my chair from all the laugh.
@Marcase: I would suggest conductive RCS accelerator (MX IV, epic ofc). It’s better -
