i could research stowiki, but i’m lazy and prefer to hear what the 44th thinks.
i am ready to add an alt character, maybe 2. currently, i run as a tac. i have all types of ships.
between sci and eng, which type would you recommend? i may have the option to get both, but would prefer to add one at a time.
i really like the looks of that orbital strike. 🙂
October 11, 2012 at 12:32 pm #156649I’ll probably add a Science Officer to my set of characters. I want some Subnucleonic Beam.
October 11, 2012 at 12:41 pm #156650Neither is better, but they are different.
Science: They are healers/tank on the ground, and crowd control in space. If you PVP, science would be the way to go. As Blackout has mentioned, they have a skill called sub-nucleonic beam which will strip buffs off of another player. Nothing like seeing an escort buff himself up with attack pattern alpha, omega, Emergency power to weapons, rapid fire 3, torp spread 3, and tact team in preparation for an alpha strike, and to just strip it all away with a sub-nuc beam (muahahaha). Or a cruiser on the ropes that then pops RSP. Strip that away with SNB and finish him off. On the ground, sci are the only profession that can tank Armek in Cure ground elite.
Engineer: Tanks in space, and lots of toys on the ground. Space skills include extra shield heal, and a ‘oh crap’ skill called “miracle worker” which instantly heals both shields and hull. Engineers in cruisers are dang hard to kill. On the ground, bombs, mines, turrets, drones, and mortars are the name of the game.
October 11, 2012 at 1:01 pm #156651you all make science sound pretty good. thanks for the input.
October 11, 2012 at 1:17 pm #156652Well, snb main utility is in PVP. It is less useful in PVE. The main enemy I use it on is Donatra in KASE. I use it to strip the Emergency power to shields 3 buff. She goes down real fast without it.
