Help … Stuck Away from Home

I had to leave home for work and I’m going to be gone for a few weeks. The internet kinda sucks at the hotel …. seems its about 1mb up & 1 mb down. Do you think that’s enough to play STO on??

Most MMO’s use around 8-15kbps, which is easily accomplished via dialup. Latency is the issue in any connection.

Right now I’m getting about 879k up / 495k down with 30-60ms latency

I guess I’ll just have to log in and try it … after it patches at snail speed.

It will depend on what you do in the game. You will most likely be fine with logging in, chat, doffing, and some ground PVE stuff. But you’ll a lot more lag and trouble with Kerrat, PVP, and STFs.

Alternatively, find another place with faster free internet. Starbucks? Local library? Once I logged in from a Starbucks while i was waiting for my son to finish a school test. Played fine.

it “should” play ok. Whenever i’m visiting another site with work I log in from the hotel and it seems to run ok.
